Tariffs will not make this processor cost $500 my guy
It will make it 30% more easily. A 10% tariff usually result an average American pay 30% more for the exactly same products. Everybody is losing except the government take more tax money and waste it on the other side of the earth to defend America's freedom.

vlad's right, pc parts will NOT be effected much,
it's more notebooks, tablets and cellphones that
will suffer the brunt of potential tariff wrath, as they
were all final assembly value added outside of usa.
Disagree. Pretty much everything made of electronic components are made overseas. If there are 20-25% tariffs that is going to add up. Not to mention they are not going to move the factories back just because one market decided to commit economic suicide.

For some reason people on this website don't like buying from AliExpress. Found a well repped seller on reddit and was able to get the x3d version for 133 during bf, works perfectly fine.

I mean it's a decent CPU but if you're like me with a 3700x, it's not worth the upgrade. I'll be waiting for the 12 and 16 cores to drop in price to justify upgrading.
it will be a noticeable upgrade if gaming, but correct for productivity.

That's not a bad thing. Americans need to cut on that consumerism a bit. Or pay.

If you wanted to not be dead ended with AM4, and wanted future upgradability - I personally would wait to see if they have another one of their $300 7600X, 32GB Ram, Motherboard, and 1TB NVME deals like they did a few weeks ago. Unless you already have a motherboard and NVME/SSD laying around for AM4.

That way in a few years if you want more juice, you can swap in a 9800x3d or whatever AM5 you want once they start going on deep discounts vs. having zero upgrade path with AM4.

If building from scratch I would build AM5.

The 9700x was $230 recently. Not sure if we'll see it again but the AM5 chips have come down and the B850 boards will be out next month.

That should be the choice of the consumer. Not the government.

If you just need a CPU upgrade this is fine. Not buying a motherboard and ram saves you at least $150.

If you are building a new PC and it is for gaming and not trying to upgrade an AM4, then no this is not a good deal. A good deal would be something like the Ryzen 5 7500F off Aliexpress, which is an AM5 chipset. That chip depending on the games played about 15 to 20 fps faster than the 5700x. If I was building new and wanted a dirt cheap build then that is what I would look at.

As for the people dogging on you about the tariffs comment. I suppose they have short memories about what prices for PC parts were going for during the tariffs and mining craze 2018-2020. Those tariffs also drove up the prices of things like washers and dryers. Google literally can bring up old news articles about it.
