Idk what you are talking about. They've been doing well in the NAS market since they just joined the game recently

If you care about your data being secure, you probably shouldn't use this. A Chinese company that specializes in cheap consumer electronics probably doesn't provide software updates years after you buy it, so the chance of your device being hacked due to some vulnerability in the future is too high. Also, the Chinese government probably has a backdoor built in, perfect way to snoop on Americans and small businesses who would buy this. Good luck people.

Vine reviews being there isn't an automatic red flag, it's just a way to seed some units to get some reviews. Yeah some Viners are lazy and just do AI 5 star reviews, but people are way more likely to buy a product with some reviews rather than none. I'm more wary of influencers who aren't always open with their relationship to the company.

it really depend on what you expectation is. and i have a lot of issues with QNAP as well (in fact my QNAP has problems 3 times in the last 5 years, often resulted in unable to mount data volume). However, QNAP does have a pretty solid customer support (as long as you have one unit that is within warranty, doesn't matter which one).

At the end i just do the 3 2 1 solution, forget about remounting the data drive and perform scans and fix bad blocks and what not. just wipe it and restore from the other NAS. luckily that i have 3 QNAP over the years for me to do 3 2 1, but given amount of headache and how long each tech support session normally takes, my suggestion is that if you place your faith on the a single NAS, regardless of the brand, you faith is misplaced.

Ive had both Synology and Ugreen. I throughly liked the experience with Ugreen more than Synology, and not locked into an OS or HDD brand.

I think jmole is probably having concern about user privacy and data security. I tend to agree with jmole.

I think all these nas are overpriced. I just use a several year old used business class Tower PC that has several drive bays tons of them available super cheap

I've had the chance to play with a few UGREEN NASs and I've been really impressed. One of the great things about them is that if you don't like or trust the software, you can easily run TrueNAS or UnRAID.

I would personally go with the 4800 (non-plus) over this one for an entry-level 4 bay, though, especially if you're going to be using it as a Plex server.

lol @ the comments in here. I would 100% go for a UGREEN over a QNAP or Synology at this point, especially after the Synology drive restriction stuff.
Probably not this model, though.

Just use a firewall and lock it down. China doesn't care about your data unless you are important. I doubt anyone who browses SlickDeals is also dealing with top secret information on their personal NAS.

May you recommend a reliable NAS that is designed and manufactured in America?
