Bank of America BofA new credit card offers, up to 3.12% back on ALL purchases or 8.25% back on catagory purchases

Was looking for a new catch-all credit card since Priceline rewards Visa is ending 7/2 and ran into this:

Bank of America Unlimited Cash rewards now offers 1.5% + 0.5% bonus, in addition as a preferred rewards member you get anywhere from 25% - 75% boost to the 1.5% non bonus portion only, max benefit is 3.12% on ANY purchase for a year.

Bank of America Customized Cash rewards now offers 3% + 3% bonus, in addition as a preferred rewards member you get anywhere from 25% - 75% boost to the 3% non bonus portion only, max benefit is 8.25% on a category purchase for a year.

Sign up bonus is spend $1000 in 90 days to get $200 back.

After a year the bonus cash back portions drop off but in my opinion still good cards after this.

Misleading title.

For 3.12%, you need to have a $100k+ combined average daily balance in your BoA accounts, and even then, you get 3.12% ONLY in the first year.

From year 2 onwards, it's 2.62% max with a $100k+ combined average daily balance.

Untrue. Title is accurate.

In the past, with $100K balance and preferred rewards, you got 5.25% on $2,500 in your selected category (frankly, the only one that matters), every quarter.

With the additional 3% included in this offer, it will be 8.25% per quarter. If managed correctly, you can do it for five quarters. Plus, the $200 sign-up bonus. That's a total bonus that rivals most any other.

The problem is I didn't want to shove a whole lot of detail and clutter in the title, so that's why I put the catch all "up to" in there, and if it sounded good people could read the details. I put in most of the work to get the details correct but couldn't go back to update the title, for which I would add "for a year."

I signed up for the unlimited rewards card, it beats anything else I could find for general purchases such as the Paypal card which gives back 3% but only through Paypal purchase portal. Plus unlimited rewards card isn't capped.

BofA permits you to have more than one Customized Cash card.

Wondering if they will let me get a second one and have this bonus for a year.

Definitely misleading. I thought they are issuing a new card better than unlimited cash 2.62%

No

Priceline has also been my main catch-all 2% card forever.

"For a year" is a blink of an eye.

I think there are only 2 2% forever catch all cards left: Citi and Wells Fargo.

Both have 3rd rate customer service phone reps. Still holding out for now.

Those aren't the only 2% cards out there. There are several others, such as the Fidelity Visa.

Title isn't misleading but it leaves out needing a $100k balance for 8.25%. That's pretty significant information that's missing.

FYI. The $100k can be in a link Merril Edge account where you can invest it to your hearts content. It would NOT be smart to leave it in BofA savings only but since you have the option for Merrill Edge, you can buy anything including tbills.
