Just an FYI the chipset on this mobo is actually a Pro 565, not a B550

Although chances are this will affect basically no one buying this combo but it does mean there is no overclocking on this mobo.

For 10 bucks more you can buy the ASRock B550M PRO4 which is a true B550 chipset and has a wifi card upgrade (wifi card not included)

I think I'm going to build a basic PC for my kiddos for Christmas, and this seems like a decent deal. Not a huge discount, but a good CPU on a very basic board would still be fine for 99% of what they'd be doing with this anyway.
Paired with some of the current deals for cases, SDD, and power supplies on SD and you're looking at a usable sub-$500 system, ~$600 with a basic GPU to go along with it.

No PBO/overclocking on this crippled version of the b550 chipset. Ryzen Master also doesn't work. Other than that, the board is solid. I have a 5800x running on it. It was $70 last week.

The 5700X requires a discrete GPU though, so the $500 option is not usable if I'm not mistaken.

Ah good catch, I thought the X series all had integrated graphics but this chip does not.

May be thinking of the 7000 series, all the new AM5 stuff has iGPU (I think, I was surprised my 7800X3D had an iGPU). On the 5000 series
(or any of the previous Ryzen chips really) none did, usually, unless they were a G variant (5600G ETC).

EDIT: Also, don't forget to get a CPU cooler if you are ordering this setup, the X series lack CPU coolers.

Yeah I like integrated graphics on CPUs even if a gaming build with a dedicated GPU - it gives the system a potential second life after its gaming days are over, as a NAS, server, homelab etc. without the additional power draw of a dedicated GPU whos video output is unneeded running in headless mode.

Should I buy these + gpu, case, power supply, hard disk to have a bulky pc or spend $600 (may be $550 at this moment) for the mini-pc-like m4 mac mini?

I figured it out, I was thinking of the AM5 CPUs, all of them have integrated GPUs except for the "F" models.

It doesn't have to be a big, bulky PC, there are a ton of streamlined small cases.
Even though it seems like maybe your question isn't genuine, the answer to someone who was asking for an opinion between the two would be: "Depends". A walled garden like the m4 mac mini is a great system for a lot of users, and would cover 99% of use cases for people who are just surfing, doing spreadsheets/documents and other desktop work. Ideal for someone who just wants it to work, doesn't want to get their hands dirty or take the time to build, and doesn't care about future upgrades.
If the use case leaned more heavily towards gaming, wanting to "tinker" and make something your own, and being able to swap parts for future upgrades then the "big, bulky pc" would be a better option.
