Can someone help me? My wife works from home now and currently uses one monitor that she just connects to the laptop using the HDMI output. Simple enough. Now she wants to extend it to a second monitor. Is this what she needs? Or do I need to connect an HDMI splitter to the laptop HDMI output? Thanks

HDMI Splitter will not work for your use case. For this Sabrent one to work, the USB Type-C port on her laptop needs to support DisplayPort Alt Mode, which is relatively common for laptops released in the past few years.
