Laptops for dual displays and only have one option (output). Several newer laptops only have a DisplayPort using a USB-C plug instead of a HDMI/MiniHDMI port, so you would plug this in, and then plug the other end into the HDMI cable running to the monitor. An HDMI to USB-C would be for the smaller 15" portable monitors that use a USB-C slot for it's video port, and your laptop only has an HDMI port and the USB-C port does not have any video capability. If this is a bidirectional adapter, it doesnt matter if it's HDMI to USB-C or USB-C to HDMI as video will go through both directions. If it's a unidirectional (video only goes one way), skip it and get a bidirectional one.

Have you ever been able to achieve 4k 60hz or at least 2k 60hz? I was planning on using dex for some gaming but found out it's hard to achieve 60hz while charging. This is my first samsung and it becomes very sluggish displaying 4k/2k dex using the ugreen revodok 105 adapter that's been posted on here before from amazon. That's without gaming and just using the phone screen as a touchpad, I'm surprised dex seems so unpolished.
