Kuhn Rikon 8-Inch Kitchen Shears
These shears are spring-loaded: The cutting action only involves squeezing them closed. Testers with large, strong hands found them liberating (no holes to shove your fingers into), but smaller, weaker testers struggled. A plastic safety sheath is necessary to keep them closed.

I have 15 or so of these for various uses. They keep themselves closed 100% on their own. They are razor sharp, they stay sharp, and I haven't found anything close to this good for what you pay. You can't beat them for use in the shop, garden, junk drawer, general use. They are also the only thing I use to cut my meat with when grilling, or inside for that matter. Awesome deal in my book.

100% agreed. I have this set and one of the larger sized one. Used them every day to cut my babys food and it cuts through everything. On kids #2 now and it has been sharp as new for the past 5 years.

The spring action is not hard at all and a huge time saver if you have to make a bunch of cuts. There is a locking mechanism in between the handles that you rotate to keep them closed.

Thanks for your input. How easy are they to clean?

These look similar to those cheap trauma shears that cut through anything, so I'm getting a set for the kitchen and garden.

After getting kitchen shears that open into 2 pieces for cleaning, I wouldnt go back. Do these have that feature?

Do they disassemble? I can't imagine using scissors that can't be taken apart to cut food with. Most consider it mandatory as food particles can be trapped in the pivot area, breeding all kinds of nasty things.

Looking at the pictures these clearly have a plastic latch built into the handle to keep them closed.

They don't look like they come apart. I've watched a couple of quick videos on it and none of them mentions them being able to come apart.

I still bit on the deal though. I will use them for non-food thing around the house and garden. The spring will be difficult to clean and not being able to come apart make it unsuitable for food.

I use this Canary kitchen scissors around the kitchen and they work great. I am very diligent about keep it separate from general purpose scissors and make sure to hand wash and dry them every time. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000O1PC6C

It's apples to oranges. This post is for spring-loaded shears which are awesome in the kitchen. The Walmart link is for cheap "kitchen" scissors
