You need a high end cooler to keep this one in check, it gets hot as hell.

Critical downside for sure. Go with 5600 if not using for work. No real diff in single core performance

Might as well toss in a free motherboard before the next batch of AM5 chips render these even further obsolete and no one will buy what's out in the footprints.

I get that. My point was it will be two gens behind soon at they will be discounting the 7700x to close to this price. I'm not saying this is a bad chip. it will still be competitive. they need to do more to move inventory.

Single core and multi core are probably significantly better even with a 7600x. If cheaper, it would be a good deal for someone invested already in am4. At this price, you're either probably going to want to tune it down a bit or buy a better cooler so.. realistically you'd be looking at spending $230-$250 all told.

Missing the 3D, or it would be sold out already.

I haven't had any issues with a cheap tower cooler when I'm gaming.

great chip but runs hot. got one at $180 awhile back. Had to upgrade my cooler from a Vetroo V5 to a phantom spirit 120. I guess you could skrt by with thermal throttling and a single tower but id suggest a double tower for this chip

Which AM5 chips are you talking about? The last AM5 refresh was back in January with the 8000 CPU release, and the next one isnt scheduled for Q3 or Q4 of 2025.

No sir. The next lineup for AMDs desktop space is the 9000 series. It's due 2h 2024. Maybe soon.... see article.

The 8000 series seems to be dedicated to their APUs.

The X870E is the same as the X670E, just with USB4 support and *maybe* 10Gb network. No? And if I'm reading correctly, the Ryzen 9000 series will work the same on the 600 series AM5 chips, but might require a BIOS upgrade.

Pretty much for the platform standards.

The processors have 10% more performance supposedly over 7000. I guess we will see.
