If you want to go for movie surround, I strongly suggest you consider 7.1 which adds two additional speaks behind the listener. I was surprised what it added. Plus you can get cheap speakers for those channels. I got a set of Mirage Nanosats (used) for about $25/each and they blow Bose out of the water - and Bose is much disparaged, but their stuff is definitely pretty good.

I'm in high end smart home AV/Lighting/Security/Automation and have a thriving curiosity of various setups. Always something new, right? Many others I've worked with start steering away from AVR and more Audio Processors separate from video process functions. Stereo Subs are one reasoning for that direction.
