I purchased a Hisense 8k AC that did not cool my living room enough and returned it for this one. Having 12k BTU instead of 8K makes a big difference.

I got this one as the Midea brand is rated higher than Hisense. That said, I miss the shorter inside part of the Hisense AC units, this Midea looks huge in comparison

Most importantly the shorter inside part makes the blower fan easily visible to check for mold and cleaning

I bought the 8,000 BTU window unit a year ago for my bedroom, it's been rock solid. I bought this 12,000 BTU version two weeks ago for my open living space, and it's just as good a performer. Plus, this unit has a simpler installation compared to the 8,000 one despite being bigger. Both work with Amazon Alexa very nicely. Recommended.

From my own experience, these are the updated units that include the recall fixes, i.e. new drain plugs, updated install/cleaning instructions.

Midea has recall issue with some models due to mold . Google midea recall and check your model
