Experience greater power, range, and speed. With an internal and external lithium ion battery, ES4-800 has a top speed of nearly 15.5 mph and a range of up to 28 miles. The bar for high-performance e-scooters has been raised.

I've got two of these. I purchased the aftermarket/amazon dash that was posted earlier in the thread and was able to install it on one of the scooters. I was able to connect to the scooter via my iPhone segway app, and an update was accepted. The scooter updated, but the BMS update failed.

Following, I was able to modify the firmware using these instructions to increase the speed from 15mph to 18mph using an android tablet that I have: https://www.scooterhacking.org/fo...ea6cee96f0

1) Since I had an aftermarket dash I installed, I skipped the ST-Link steps.
2) I visited this site - https://esx.cfw.sh/ - and downloaded a firmware that is for the ES4 and is compatible with the android app ES_downG (ZIP file)
3) I did this on the android tablet where in Chrome, I visited the site and selected the following:
- ES4 Preset
- I ONLY unchecked No Kers (it's not clear what this means to me), but seems like it should be unchecked
- I left everything as is, including Basics, Power&Speed, CruiseControl, Advanced
4) Generate the firmware for ES DownG and it will download into your downloads folder on your android device

Continue to follow the steps on the scooterhacking site and connect with ES_down, then flash the firmware. I recommend that you do this with the handlebars ready to disconnect if needed in case the scooter is unresponsive (e.g. disco lights and the dash won't respond to your button pushes - disconnecting/reconnecting fixed that situation).

After successful flash, I was getting the faster speed and getting a pretty fast downhill speed which could be because I unchecked No Kers. Admittedly, it was a little unsettling with the faster speed! I'm going to read more about the No Kers to understand whether to uncheck/check it and also the speed to 50,000 setting on the firmware (they say don't go below 49,000).

I will be purchasing a second dash for the second scooter today to re-flash.

After these steps, the Segway app works fine from my iPhone - just need to ignore the firmware upgrade prompts for the BMS. I'm able to lock the scooter, track my rides/GPS. Don't think I can change the lights which I'm fine with the cool disco lights!

I've tested the scooter, have bluetooth connectivity in the app, all seems good and I bought the Walmart warranty. Is there any reason for me to keep the large box that it came in?
If you lose job, lose place to live, it might come in handly.

Can a trunk bike rack be safe to use to transport two of these scooters? Using enough straps and bungees ties? Would I be okay on the freeway? Just wondering....your thoughts,?

What bike rack? Are the straps large enough to go around the base of this scooter?

Cheap solution for those who want a hook to hold a bag, just attach a carabiner to the battery cage. The hooks offered on Amazon don't work on our scooters because they're meant for foldable ones.

Something like this?
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TRTSW46
Shows 4 bikes at max weight of 140 LB. Each Bird ES4-800 is about 30 LB. So it should work provided that you can safely strap the stem to the rack and somehow keep the footboard from swinging and hitting your bumper. Not sure if the external battery is in the way. Buy one and try it out. It shows free returns from Amazon, so nothing to loose other than time.

I could be wrong, but I've read some people were able to re-install the original dash after making the changes with the aftermarket/OEM dash and still keep the firmware updates.

Have you thought about re-installing your aftermarket dash and checking if that was the case. If so you can reuse on your second scooter and flash that as well.

Yes, I tried that and it didn't work. I also read that. I think the old dashes are somehow locked from sending a Bluetooth signal out-maybe ST link solves that.

It won't work if your stock dash wasn't BT enabled out of the box. I updated mine using an OEM dash and switched back to my stock dashes, worked fine. The wiki is pretty detailed and can be edited by anyone if there's new information.

Folding vs non-folding is the #1
