Experience greater power, range, and speed. With an internal and external lithium ion battery, ES4-800 has a top speed of nearly 15.5 mph and a range of up to 28 miles. The bar for high-performance e-scooters has been raised.

I installed a aftermarket dash, updated the firmware but not the bms (it failed), reinstalled the original dash and was able to successfully update the bms firmware with the original (purple board) dash installed. All my firmware is now up to date with the original dash that came with the scoot.

Interesting, 3rd party dashboard failed but reinstalling the purple dashboard all seems to work, do you have retail stock now?

Did you purchase an aftermarket dash? Did going back to the stock dash resolve your issue?

Which seller did you end up going with?

Totally makes sense. I was only thinking the speed was the noticeable difference. Personally since my scooter connects to Bluetooth and I can control lights already, do you think the updates provide anything else noticeably different, like range or battery life? I would love to unlock the full potential but just weighing the differences. Thanks!
I haven't tested it enough to be able to tell a difference in range after the updates. The scooter is faster and the speed difference is noticeable for sure even though it is only a few mph more (was hitting only about 14 previously and can hit 19 consistently on this one). Honestly if you're happy with the functionality now I would just leave it as is, I didn't have bluetooth so I needed the update for sure.

Nobody has an issue with the brake that is dangerously slow to brake to a full stop?
I upgraded from the Xiaomi M365 that has a disc brake and this Bird ES4 scooter is like very bad at stopping, it takes so long when I go full speed (15mph). I am in Manhattan, you have to be able to stop very fast because of pedestrian sometimes.
Since I haven't seen much complaint on this thread, I am wondering if it's just my scooter...

I have a m365 too and the ease of braking is day and night between the two. I was thinking of doing the brake mod but instead I replaced the rear wheel with a pneumatic tire for a smoother ride. Only if I can do both.
A quick Google search resulted in this video for the disk brake mod. I didn't watch this one in particular.

Just found this wheel. Pneumatic tire and drum brake. It is now too cold here in NY. I may try this mod in the spring.

Found a guide too but it is in French.

I speak French so not an issue.

That's interesting. I actually switched my M365 to tubeless tires because I was getting flat tires every month (6'6", 230 lbs) in NYC. Yes it made my rides less enjoyable but I didn't have to change the tube every month which is a very difficult process.

Are you suggesting that switching to a tube tire will make the ES4 brake better ?

I like the extra cushion provided by the tube. Have you consider adding slime to prevent flats?
https://www.amazon.com/Slime-1000...B000BOB9F0

If you are not getting flats from nail, maybe your tire is under inflated and getting pinched by the rim when hitting a bump on the road or a pothole. Try running your tire at 50 PSI to 60 PSI as per this website on Q&A #4.

Also, I find it difficult to add air on the front tire of m365 with the air hose extender. It tends to leak a lot of PSI when removing the extender. Try over inflating it to compensate for the air loss when removing the extender.
