Experience greater power, range, and speed. With an internal and external lithium ion battery, ES4-800 has a top speed of nearly 15.5 mph and a range of up to 28 miles. The bar for high-performance e-scooters has been raised.

Thanks. Any other differences?

Is the bird one inferior to the Segway ES4?

Nobody has an issue with the brake that is dangerously slow to brake to a full stop?
I upgraded from the Xiaomi M365 that has a disc brake and this Bird ES4 scooter is like very bad at stopping, it takes so long when I go full speed (15mph). I am in Manhattan, you have to be able to stop very fast because of pedestrian sometimes.
Since I haven't seen much complaint on this thread, I am wondering if it's just my scooter...
Not just your scooter. Same in Manhattan--have to use the back brake occasionally. Not having disk/drum is pretty bad. Of course, I like single pedal driving, so I do the same on this (and keep it slow). Would never buy this at full price.

Also range isn't 28, at least for me. Maybe 22

Finally, it goes a bit crazy occasionally, losing power and thinking it's going fast when it's stopped, but only if it's connected on Bluetooth. It's otherwise happy

Be interested in the air tire/brake rear wheel retrofit people are discussing.

Folks, is there a way to raise the handlebar? I see some screws there but not sure if they are for adjusting the height. Thanks

After upgrading to the Amazon dashboard, I was able to update the firmware to 1.62 but the BMS would not update. As others had mentioned, I then reinstalled the Purple OEM dashboard and after 3 tries, was able to update the BMS to the latest firmware. All is now functioning exactly as it should without limitations. Only had to download the Nine Dash app on Android to change it from KM to MPH.

Did you try the serial number change to boost the speed?

Something like this?
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TRTSW46
Shows 4 bikes at max weight of 140 LB. Each Bird ES4-800 is about 30 LB. So it should work provided that you can safely strap the stem to the rack and somehow keep the footboard from swinging and hitting your bumper. Not sure if the external battery is in the way. Buy one and try it out. It shows free returns from Amazon, so nothing to loose other than time.
Yeah exactly. It would be way easier to load them on a bike rack.

Folks, isn't there a way to turn off the side (red) lights? I downloaded M365 Tools app and was able to turn off glow below the scooter but the side lights stay on draining the battery.

P.S. is the free helmet from Bird promo dead?

Would appreciate (and rep) if someone could answer the following questions:

How do I turn off side (red) lights on it? They stay on after turning the scooter off.

Also, how can I see the mileage on this? Is there an app I can look up for it?

Ans is there a way to lock the scooter? So that If someone turns it on, it won't move until unlocked (through app?) ?

Thank you

Press and hold the power button to turn off scooter. The display goes off and the rear lights should go off too. It does comes on for me when I charge my scooter. If that is not the case for you, I believe there is a reset procedure that you can try.
https://segway.zendesk.com/hc/en-...y-settings

You can also get a dash and try flashing the firmware, maybe your is corrupted and upgrading the firmware will fix it.

If all else fails, you can unplug the lights. Just unscrew and pop open the rear side panels and you can unplug the lights.

The Segway app shows the milage. It requires bluetooth. If your bluetooth is not working, order a replacement dash.

I believe you can lock your scooter with the segway app. I remember seeing a lock icon

Thank you!

The side lights would remain on after turning this thing off. I'll try to reboot it. I would wish I wont need to unplug them as I will need them on the road.

I was considering flashing but then I called them and was told flashing would void the 1 year warranty. Is extra 3 miles/h worth it?

I just downloaded the app. Wondering if I should proceed with firmware update that it suggests me to do? I think I read here that updating the firmware is not recommended?

Edit: figured that the firmware is not updatable through the app.

If you are referring to the firmware update, yes, I did. I just thought you folks flashing it unlock max speed but this firmware update through app (which didnt go through) was just regular update.

I actually went through quite a few pages aside from Wiki and didnt find any solution for side lights. Please enlighten me
