It's not a bad deal but not the best you can get. The newer model 8000f ii can be found for the same price if you are patient. They aren't that much better but they do improve a bit. Really up to you, I have these and love them but they are an older model now.

No. This is trying to dump old stock. Many share the opinion the newer generation sounds better and can sometimes be found for this price.

How are these compared to the RP5000 ii ones? I need bookshelf speakers so I could switch the 5000 to bookshelf and 8000 to be the primary.

I think this is comparing to deals from adorama.
I'm very skeptical that what I was sold by adorama was new stock. They did not pack the item box in an outer box. Which sometimes can be acceptable. But the boxes that my speakers came in looked like they were dropped out of the back of an airplane.
When I went through adorama customer service it took 60+ emails (how I solved it) and many unsuccessful phone calls with customer support. In the end they gave me credit toward a future purchase (in part my choice) but the only other option they gave me was returning. I kept telling them the shipping packaging was COMPLETELY destroyed. Every time I'd reply to an email or call it was like starting the whole process from scratch. The other thing was I couldn't use the store credit they gave me on the website - literally had to call them to use it. And they kept giving me different prices when I'd try to call an order in.
In the end it took so much time. Luckily the speakers somehow worked and Klipsch gave me a replacement grille for free even though it was no fault of their own. I don't think I'd ever buy anything from adorama again. And given the choice of paying $100 more from a company that actually knows how to ship things out and have service id maybe choose this deal.
I am glad I picked these up those. I listen to music for hours every day on these and it was an absolutely massive upgrade over what I had before.

Anyone know how these compare to the newer 8000f ii line? Are the differences just on paper or is it actually audibly better?

I ordered a pair of RP-8000 ii from crutchfield and they came with only original boxing. One was damaged. With that being said they shipped another double boxed within a week. They really have great customer service.

Looks like they killed the link I sent lol.

Go to greentoe.com and search RP-8000F. You'll see the iis pop up. If you click that link, toward the bottom is a "name your price". enter $450 (you may have to enter 2x if you want a pair).
