As someone that owns and plays both Custom Shop and Ultra Strats and Teles daily - I have a slightly different take on it. The Ultras are FANTASTIC guitars, but I would never mistake one for a Custom Shop, which in my experience are at another level. If Ultras are a well cooked steak - custom shops are a well cooked steak with melted butter. The difference to me is that an Ultra feels like it could be my favorite guitar and a Custom Shop feels like it's been my favorite guitar for decades.

So you are paying 3k for a fender that when you go to resell it, 99% of the people with ANY interest are going to be looking at it like it's any other american fender, so good luck getting that extra 2k out of them. Even the ones that are custom shop, are just random ideas.
The Silver Sky (USA and otherwise) is probably the most over-hyped guitar in current production. Even ignoring that headstock, it's not a very faithful reproduction especially with respect to neck shape and radius, and you should definitely play one before buying it.
If you have thousands of dollars to spend on a guitar and you want a real strat, there's no reason not to consider the genuine article. It doesn't have to be brand new either.
