Also, I would recommend trying HEX detergent, it works for us so well removing sweat smells, tide does not remove those smells.

Bigger vs smaller balls: Larger wool balls tend to tumble better, beat the clothes apart more, and retain heat longer. That usually makes them more effective than smaller ones.
How many to use:
Light loads → 2–3 balls is usually fine.
Medium/large loads → 3–4 balls is common.
Extra-large loads / bedding → 5–6 balls if you have them, since more balls improve airflow and drying.
For big blankets, etc - I usually air dry them so you would have to experiment with large loads
