I am tempted but the patient gamer in me tells me I should wait until Black Friday in hopes of an even better deal, like the Walmart TOTK $30 "level good". Currently playing thru DK Bonanza, CP 2077, MLB The Show on my Switch2 has been keeping me fairly busy as it is. Lets see if MP4 actually comes out this year.

At the bare minimum it'll run super smooth compared to the old switch.

Playing through it now, second attempt since launch. Finding it a lot more fun now but I had to put in like 15 hours before I got to that point. Definitely grindy as hell, the rest makes up for it but barely.

What Pokemon game would be a good intro for an 8 year old? Based on these comments I don't think it's this one.

you should know the answer already, it's definitely pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee, and it's base in the original pokemon yellow.

I had the same experience. I got it to play with my kids and we never finished it because it just kept falling flat.

I'm in a totally different boat than everyone here. I loved it. It was far more interesting than any of the Pokemon games in recent years. There was an art style change-up, altered game mechanics, a new/interesting way to catch Pokemon, & a decent story (for a Pokemon game, that is). And maybe I'm misremembering, but the performance was much better than Scarlet/Violet.
I do agree that repeatedly catching the same Pokemon was grindy but that didn't bother me. You ARE gate-kept but saying you haven't been in any other recent Pokemon game would be silly. Sure, you can travel "anywhere" in Scarlet/Violet. But you're diverted by high level Pokemon & missing travel abilities of your ride Pokemon. Plus, the game looks awful (on Switch 1) as Pokemon pop-in everywhere & objects have low framerates.

My sister's kid keeps recommending it as the best Pokémon story and different (maybe slightly) game mechanics.

You will more than likely get a UAE copy if that matters to you.

Just received my copy today. It's the North American version with ESRB rating.
