i was SO close to buying a surface this past year, but when i went to a best buy to try it out one more time they had a Lenovo Yoga (also with arm, snapdragon x elite) in the open box section for literally 50% off its retail price which absolutely crushed the value prop of a surface for me.


Highly recommend checking your local BestBuy for those markdowns before you buy anything like this

I have the previous first Surface Pro that is ARM based. Annoying thing is some windows app does not work. It is a great machine, great sound in the speakers, great screen. Great for ZOOM conferences. I had to buy separate keyboard etc so this is pretty good price as the keyboard is included and has latest chips. I like the 13 inch screen for portability.

Personally I think this deal is lukewarm. It's not terrible if you need the keyboard and pen and you want the X Elite processor and top specs, but otherwise I would wait.

I currently own the first generation Surface Pro X (which is also ARM-based) and I love it and I'm looking for an upgrade. I've seen some of the lower model versions of the new Pros for significantly less, but also without the keyboard and pen, which I don't need as I can reuse the one I already have. I believe we'll start seeing these models clearanced in the next several months.

It's too bad that they don't have these with 32gb of memory. They have had the 32gb option since at least Surface Pro 9

1. Snapdragon = for most, Just Say NO!!!
Cpu is not 100% compatible like regular Intel/Amd cpus!
  1. As long as you stick to MS apps, you'll be fine with this.
  2. Otherwise, seek out the Surface Pro 10 with intel CPU.

Imagine being this misinformed AND this confident. Also, why did this start with 1. ? Was there a 2. ? FYI the arm on windows platform has come a long way. Of the top 100 used windows apps 97 of them now run natively and the other 3 use emulation with no performance drop off. In fact, some of the apps that have been optimized for the emulation engine actually work better than their x86 counterparts. Outside of some niche software and hardcore gaming needs, ARM on Windows is a good fit for a majority of users, especially when you add the better battery life and no performance throttling when unplugged.
