No warranty coverage by Nintendo of America, even if you're willing to pay for parts and labor.

This is a bad take. Tariffs increased prices for sure but this is an 8 year old console with the primary differences being the OLED screen, better kickstand, build quality, and other minor changes. Nintendo was already making money on the hardware alone back then (unlike PS/Xbox). The S2 is much newer, faster, plays all of the same games, etc and is only $50 more after the increase (or $100 w/bundle at MSRP)...

It's pretty stupid to think the increase was not at least partially because of greed. That said this price is not terrible but the S1 is going to be eol in a few years and that's something to consider. Also not sure if the no warranty means joycon replacements are harder which would make this really bad unless you get an external controller.

The price on US region OLED Switch 1 systems is being raised to $400. So this is a sweet deal if you don't mind the lack of warranty.

Cheaper than used at gamestop with no game, though. Not a bad deal at all.

Wow wild, typical Nintendo…I got a used barely touched OLED limited model for $210 about 8 months ago.

What other instance have they increased prices on hardware?

Pretty sure tariffs are the reason, but sure let's blame the company instead 👍

20-30% of increased costs for Nintendo to import with new tariffs vs. 12% increase in actual MSRPs...

While that could be true, on the flip side manufacturing costs for a system will typically diminish over the course of several years.
