Decent deal for a entry level gaming system. The 1660 TI is old but probably still good enough for 1080 in most games at least on medium settings. If you are looking for something to play less demanding games this could work for ya. e.g. your kid wants system to play Minecraft, Roblox, Fortnite, etc.

I bought my kid a computer with this case last year. The case is the biggest piece of shit because of the lack of airflow. You will have to upgrade CPU fan. Take the front panel off drill holes or dremel a circle out and add an intake fan. These pieces of shit don't come with an intake fan, but the chassis has a slot for one. If you do those things you will have normal airflow. Totally worth it, but just know what you'd be getting yourself into with the stupid case. It has to be the most inefficient air flow for a case I have ever bought.

I know that all their HPs are manufacturer refurbs. My guess is that these ASUS units are as well. Certified Refurbished is the highest grade refurb available, posted to be in like new condition. From product page:

6-year old tech in a case that most people said has no airflow (I bought one with a 2060 super and didn't see terribly high temps, but left the side panel off).

I guess I'm just not sure why this is a deal.

Have you looked at graphics card prices lately? There are no deals. Sadly, this is as good as anything.

My stance:
If either of my kids didn't already have a desktop for school work (ages 9 and 12), I'd buy this. If they want a better gaming machine, they can get a job. I don't give them tablets--those are for fun. A desktop with a proper keyboard at a desk though--those are for work. And it happens to be able to game.

The graphics card is worth roughly $150, matching an RTX 3050 6GB. Add the rest of the hardware and adds up to around $368. But prebuilt with a Windows key and it's alright.

If you've already got any parts sitting around (RAM, case, PSU) and know hot to build and have time, that's probably better.

One advantage to the ASUS desktop in this deal vs. similarly specified refurb models from HP listed by third party sellers (for example) is the integration of standard motherboards and power supplies. Typically both the motherboard and power supply in OEM units are custom designs making a power supply upgrade or a case swap an overly complicated process (so sometimes best described as possible but not always practical).

Of course, the upside to those OEM systems is that they often see even bigger discounting when they're sold in the secondary market.

Good luck!

Speaking of which, same seller has an HP with Ryzen 5600G/12GB/1TB/256GB for $303 currently. Not a gaming platform by any stretch, but it's a solid medium performance workstation for office or home with better than average onboard graphics. Nice upgrade option on the cheap for anyone running older technology and wanting to upgrade, with WIN11 thrown in. Thanks for commenting.

If you sort by negative reviews, people are saying the seller falsely advertises products as Certified Refurbished.

You sure that front panel doesn't have a small opening at the bottom? It looks an sounds a lot like ; near every case before 2000. Which if it does; that's your air intake! Massive Cooling is really only required on massive systems. My phones stronger than most PCs an doesn't have any cooling vents. And all those 0.8ghz computers I had from the 80s with one exhaust fan we ran till the the day we left them behind ; probably still used by someone today. Only HDDs tend to die.
