I buy a lot of discount impact bit sets from different brands and I've never been impressed with black oxide coated impact bits from any manufacturer. The oxide layer is always inconsistent and can mess with tolerances, making it more difficult to grip the screw. Then the black oxide layer inevitably chips off after the first few uses anyways. Dewalt's non oxide coated bits are some of the most durable ive used, second only to makita impact gold/xps series.

Anybody know the difference between this and the elite series? https://www.lowes.com/pd/DEWALT-E...5015604503

It's $30 at Ace but it's not available at my store. I don't want to pay shipping. if this is the same, I'll buy this.

from a vary cursory search it seems the Flextorq is just their newer version or set.

This set: Black oxide coated HSS
Elite: Shock-resistant tool steel

Elite series bits appear darker, so there must be a difference in the steel.

According to DeWALT:
https://www.dewalt.com/systems/elite-series

Only products proven tough enough outperform the competition have earned the right to be called DEWALT ELITE SERIES™. Increase productivity and reduce interruptions with top-of-the-line accessories designed to deliver unmatched durability in a comprehensive range of applications. The DEWALT ELITE SERIES™ line is Built to Last™ so you can forge ahead and finish the job.

Got the deal, since I use half of the bits all the time. I like the case to add all the other random bits i have, to carry it all in one case.

Not a bad set to have for all around but i feel like as far as bits go. All you really need is a box of 2" PH2 and Box of 2" T25 and that will get you by 90% of the time. Maybe an extension if you need to get around fixtures or door knobs.

This is a pretty cool case to keep in the garage or shed but its pretty big to lug around with you places.

Agreed. Get a bit holder that attaches to your impact, throw the ph2, torx, square bit on there and anything else is in the case.

This case is more for the "throw it in the truck to use on the jobsite" IMO.

Extremely slick! Thanks OP! In for 1 (more) DeWalt and Milwaukee bits are the best "economy" bits IMO, when you get them in deals like this. Just bought one of these a couple weeks back for ~$30 after stacking various deals

You do actually, because one of your kids walked off with the "good" set that had most everything in it, and you won't find it until you buy a replacement.

I feel personally attacked by this comment. Maybe I should buy this as an upgrade for my father. But I see the comment about black oxide not being very durable and am wondering if this is a good set to buy for him
