Crap... No internal battery so it needs an external power source at all times is what I gather?

Yes the partybox 520 is the largest portable Bluetooth speaker they make.

Any recommendations on something similar with an internal battery? I'm kind of new to this game and would like something for my back deck

Honestly, unless you are hosting raves on your back deck, you don't need to look at party speakers of this size at all. You could get a solid wired setup or you could look at smaller models like the Partybox 110/120. 2 of either of those in stereo are amazing. Just one is probably overkill for hanging out on the deck but if you are considering this monster, I will just assume you want some big sound

My brother has a 110, I have a 310, 320 and 710. The 710 pounds. 110 is good for playing music here and there but doesn't sound very good for karaoke for some reason, or the others are just that much better. If you like it loud, portable and like to karaoke, the 310/320 is good for that. If you want something that absolutely pounds then get the 710 and it's for sure louder than the 310/320 and that bass is a huge increase. I go one step further and I bought a power bank for it to use for backyard parties at my parents every once in a while, it's a big boy to lug around for sure otherwise the 310/320 usually goes with me.

I think this is a decent deal for the 710.
Just my 2 cents and my personal experiences and thoughts.
