Basically, it's a bioglass that does a decent job of accelerating the existing remineralization systems that exists in the whole dental biological system, closing small damage at a statistically quicker rate. Not in the sense of wholesale regrowing enamel or whatever, but in terms of preventing deeper damage than otherwise over time, it's great!
It reduces sensitivity too - but it's just one of the few things scientifically/statistically shown to directly help beyond just cleaning, so I go for it, for the relatively cheap cost over other choices.

It's actually pretty easy to get it in the US now.
Just look on amazon for biomin or novamin toothpaste. But beware that Amazon's algorithm will still show you stuff that doesn't have it, so you've got to search in the actual product description for it still.
Half the time, I get a multi-pack of Dr. Collins, then use some fluoride toothpaste on the same brush - you've only got to use a pea-sized bit of it (like most toothpaste). Dr. Collins sells direct in the US. The other companies haven't gotten the same approval yet for whatever reason.
The other half I get a multipack of Canadian/UK packaged Sensodyne with Biomin. The most recent also had fluoride in it too, which is nice.
Whatever I can get cheapest at the moment. Last time was Sensodyne, since prices in the US have gotten extra high like a lot of things.
Rarely though, I end up having to return a mislabeled product, but no big issue on Amazon at least there. I've usually got plenty of time when I order when I'm starting on my last tube.
The tubes aren't gigantic like some US tubes, but they're not small like some travel toothpaste either. They match the weight put on the label. They do have a noticeable long-term effect on the limited temperature sensitivity I can get with cold food at least, so they have a direct effect for me at least.
But check google scholar for any of the studies out there. I'm sure someone will come up with a better formula for the same thing at some point, but it's the best I've seen.

Man, amazon is a mess. Ended up finding that by just googling "Novamin canada amazon".
Edit: Ah, but looks like they won't ship to the US using that version of Amazon. Well, price difference between that and Dr. Collins isn't big enough to worry terribly about. Just annoying to have only one option left available. You can find that right on Amazon:
