Based on customer review pictures on Amazon it looks like most charging blocks don't touch the ground. There are quite a few that show MacBook charging blocks that still have an air gap with the floor. Not sure how much bigger and obnoxious charging blocks can get.

I'm guessing the design of the outlets slanting toward the ground is fine for regular plugs but ones with those obnoxious rectangular boxes on this ac plugs would hit the floor and not a good design for those

8 is a good number of AC ports that are well spaced.
However 35W shared for all four USB ports combined may be frustrating if you're charging two or more high draw devices at once. I am trying to no longer buy anything less than 60W shared. I also think having USB ports down below a desk is not super convenient but this might be useful for cables that are permanently plugged in

A bit of a question is what are you buying. If you want an power strip which may last for decades, those USB ports are 35W too powerful and will be obsolete before the rest of it.
If you are buying a 35W charger, 8 AC ports may be too much.
If you want a jack of all trades... He's a master of none.

TUV, but no UL. You'd think with all the recalls Anker has had lately for fire hazard that they would pay for the UL. I'm out.

35W is good enough. If you are not charging in a rush, the slower the better for your battery life. I seldom see any family has three device charging at the same location. The kids has their own, for privacy.

I don't like the inclined design of this one. The other flat one has too much outlets (12 I think). I will pass and wait for a better one.

Yeah, many of them don't have UL

Yes i was just about to comment the same. Needs to be completely flat and with some kind of straps or retainers to keep their plugs from shifting and coming out of the outlets. Even completely flat strips don't work. Have to use glue or zip ties or velcro straps.
