Why not just get a 6ft? It will be lighter.

Because it works on stairs? I don't know I'm not the sales person.

My wife is going to kill me for getting another ladder but this is exactly what I need. My neighbor has this and I occasionally do some work around her house so she doesn't have to pay someone. It is INSANELY light and easy to maneuver.

It appears to work as a ladder, step ladder, has a platform, and also like FreeCake (where's my cake?!?) alluded to the front and back seem to be independently adjustable so working on slopes or stairs seem to be an option that most normal A-Frame ladders won't do.

But yes, you can get a one trick pony to do any one of the above things cheaper and lighter.

All that being said, something like this (I think Little Giant makes them too) should do all of the above (minus the platform) and also works as a small extention ladder. Still heavy. I have a similar-ish model (much larger) I bought via slickdeals years ago for about $40.

For a first time homeowner would this be a good first ladder or a larger little giant?

I've found that I need an 8ft sometimes and a 6ft sometimes. My home has 8ft ceilings and 9ft ceilings. Outdoors i usually need the 8ft one.

I will rarely use this so one that fits all is best I think.

Assuming you are average height, I would think you should be able to access most things on a 9' ceiling from a 6 foot A-frame ladder (1-2 steps from the top). Now, multi purpose ladders are heavy if that is a concern. One ladder does the job of 2 other ladders and a step stool so on the other side they save space. In my mind you need to plan (as a homeowner) to have an A-frame, small extension ladder (tall enough to reach your gutters at least), and probably a taller step stool. I personally have a step stool with a flat platform that can be stood on that is tall enough to change the air filters on my 9' ceilings. You may be able to accomplish all of these with a single multi use ladder or may be worth buying dedicated use ladders if you intend to use them often. Heavy kinda sucks when you are taking them upstairs or trying to manhandle even a short extension ladder fully extended.
*Note, the ladder in this deal will NOT work as an extension ladder. I'm mainly speaking in generalities.

its a fair question... i think this model is a bit silly if you cant use it as a straight ladder. probably why it is on sale, but i still wouldnt buy it. all you gain is that little top shelf/storage thing, which, imo, is not very useful compared to what you lose over a typical multi position ladder.

I got one of these at a liquidation store for 12 bucks, its great. Well built, multiple uses, nice to have.
Absolutely not worth 90 bucks. Buy a step ladder/A-frame/multi position ladder for that price or cheaper.

I'm confused by this comment

What is there to be confused about? Its a nice little step ladder but it is nowhere near worth 90 bucks.
