So is this max 6 feet in the a frame shape?
Correct
Why not just get a 6ft? It will be lighter.

Because it works on stairs? I don't know I'm not the sales person.
But yes, you can get a one trick pony to do any one of the above things cheaper and lighter.
All that being said, something like this (I think Little Giant makes them too) should do all of the above (minus the platform) and also works as a small extention ladder. Still heavy. I have a similar-ish model (much larger) I bought via slickdeals years ago for about $40.

For a first time homeowner would this be a good first ladder or a larger little giant?
I've found that I need an 8ft sometimes and a 6ft sometimes. My home has 8ft ceilings and 9ft ceilings. Outdoors i usually need the 8ft one.
I will rarely use this so one that fits all is best I think.
*Note, the ladder in this deal will NOT work as an extension ladder. I'm mainly speaking in generalities.
Absolutely not worth 90 bucks. Buy a step ladder/A-frame/multi position ladder for that price or cheaper.
I'm confused by this comment
