the other model is glass carafe while this is double stainless (thermal), so this stays hotter longer on its own, but does NOT have a hot plate, so the heat thing caries depending on situation. also with thermal: can't tell how much coffee is left and is (arguably) more difficult to clean, but less fragile
this model also has "manual adjust stop" which is defined as follows:
"The manual-adjust stop allows you to control the brewing speed or stop it entirely as it flows into the carafe. This brewer is a good option for those who like to be more hands-on with their coffee brewing process and don't consistently brew a full carafe every day."

No auto stop for the glass version might not be good for one person. For the two of us, a full pot is just enough with around less than a cup of coffee left over to drink later.

Best coffee maker out there. With a great heating element and replacement parts a plenty.
I personally chose the 40oz for it's glass carafe. I don't like the stainless ionic taste. It took me years before I could convince myself it was worth the money. I should not have waited. It's the fastest coffee makers I've seen and pour over quality from a machine.
Respect your opinion but I couldn't disagree more. One of an extremely few household coffee makers that brew at a high enough temperature to extract the full flavor from the coffee bean (ideal temperature is @203 - 205. Most coffee makers use plastic tubing and heat the brew water to less than 192… The Technivorm uses brass tubing. The difference in the flavor of [quality] coffee beans is night and day. At this price, it's a steal. I bought mine about 12-years ago at almost $400. Still some of the best money I've spent.

If my Zojirushi showed any sign of stopping, I'd be seriously considering this deal. I do appreciate having a timer though.
I am about to get this, what should I expect?
I am currently using Copper Moon Strong Dark Roast Whole Bean Coffee and a Krups Fast Touch Coffee Grinder.
Also annoying to have to stand there blah blah blah
