I got the Epix 2 non-Pro last year and I'm happy with it. I don't know what I'm missing out on.

There are others in the Amazfit line as well for running, general fitness or better aesthetics but I like the T-Rex series for it's ruggedness and features and it's sub 200 price. Garmin does not give you anything extra over an Amazfit for more than triple the price.

Amazfit has been around for over 15 years. I think they were an offshoot of Xiaomi.
Their watches are comparable to fitness watches with their features matching Garmin, Fitbit, etc. for fitness activities like running, hiking, and overall health tracking.
Amazfit does not compete against Samsung ultra or Apple watches which are in the smartwatch category rather than the fitness watch category.

Meanwhile...I charge my Amazfit GTR 4 LE ($149 - $50 rebate = $99) once every 2 weeks, if that. So twice a month. I've had it for 2 years. I had the GTR3 before, and it too was excellent. Amazfit's just do...everything well. They're not the "leader" in any one category, but they have an entry in every category. So while Garmin may be the "most accurate" - Amazfit does darn well in the category. With the new Helios band, it might actually be better. App ecosystem goes to Apple/Samsung. But ZeppOS allows for open development on their dev platform, and it's growing fast. At the end of the day, I can track my snowboarding, running, and every exercise I can imaging on my Amazfit. I can track my sleep. I can track my activity levels. I can control my spotify. I can get/reply/answer text messages AND phone calls from my watch. There's an ECG if you know how to enable it. It's OS layout is customizable. The app on the phone works great. Honestly, I can't say enough good things about them. The best part is they're cheap, I can get 4x GTR4's which I know last me at least 2 years, for the price of this discounted/discontinued Garmin.
The days of $1000 smart watches are over. The days of 2 day battery life are over. If you find yourself in either category buying today, you're doing it wrong imho.
