This thing looks awesome in principle. However, it's beyond me why a high-tech battery charger would be released in 2025 that is limited to NiMH batteries. That is so 2008!

Because 99 percent of rechargeable batteries that are A or AA size are NiMH. NiCad is too old to be in wide spread use and there are few (very few) lithium variants in those sizes to replace alkaline batteries.

There are plenty of lithium AA and AA available. Personally, I find them so much better for several reasons, primarily because they are 1.5V not 1.2V (like NiMH and NiCad).

I guess that's my point. If you are going to generate a cool (and expensive) charger, why not make it use the batteries of the future (and present) rather than a defunct technology that will limit the long-term utility of the device?
