I'd be more comfortable with this one. Never had a hardware quality problem with an Insignia product.

anyone know if this has ability to set brightness very dim for a dark room? some cheaper TVs don't have allow you to go very low in terms of brightness

I've had this 3 years now. No problems, great picture.
The brightness is fully adjustable down to quite dim.

These are fantastic budget TVs. I have 2 of these and I am very happy with the quality for the sale price. As an added bonus, anything you can do to a firestick, you can do to this TV. I setup some emulators and threw some roms on a flash drive. Added entertainment.

Can you elaborate please? was looking to upgrade younger siblings from a 40 inch to this. What pitfalls or issues should i be concerned with? They're fine watching 1080p or even 720p content at 60hz.

Ahhh. That's a tough one. Used to work at BBY so have many, many insignia products. 90% have had no issues and while customer service is lacking everywhere. This is a bestbuy product, they own the brand. Can be returned or insured. However I hate the fire OS when it's built in, the stick is OK. I have had no issue with Roku OS, or little issue. lol. I'd say it's 50/50. If you have Walmart plus I'd go with the Onn. I have total tech or whatever it's called now so would lean towards this. 55" 4K tv for 200$ is great either way.

Definitely agree with you on Fire OS vs Roku OS. First thing I do is plug in a separate Apple TV so I don't tend to think about the integrated OS as much.

don't know if its this exact model but my insignia 4k has motion smoothing issues (the image jiggles) but just have to disable all the enhancers and it works fine.

Even the bestbuy employee was saying that hisense was better but money wise the insignia was cheaper. and to me i didn't care much for quality, or else i would splurge on a OLED

The 40-ish inch insignia "fire tv" we have in our guest bedroom has been a cautionary tale for us.

It has constant connectivity issues with WiFi, the UI has significant lagging issues even when it is connected well to WiFi. Using the fire tv interface to deal with normal tv settings also leaves much to the imagination.

I was hoping for a simpler more streamlined experience, for whomever was visiting and staying in that room, but I seem to be just doing a bunch of tech support on this thing instead.

Obviously, it isn't the same model, but our experience definitely makes us reconsider if we'd ever go down this road again.
