Laptops for dual displays and only have one option (output). Several newer laptops only have a DisplayPort using a USB-C plug instead of a HDMI/MiniHDMI port, so you would plug this in, and then plug the other end into the HDMI cable running to the monitor. An HDMI to USB-C would be for the smaller 15" portable monitors that use a USB-C slot for it's video port, and your laptop only has an HDMI port and the USB-C port does not have any video capability. If this is a bidirectional adapter, it doesnt matter if it's HDMI to USB-C or USB-C to HDMI as video will go through both directions. If it's a unidirectional (video only goes one way), skip it and get a bidirectional one.

i havent tried 4k 60 but it works fine doing 1440p 60hz, not sure what issues you are running into. what phone processor?
It's snapdragon 8 elite, I'm in the US. According to reddit, it's not super straight forward to get 60hz even on 1440p. You have to have just the right adapters.

I want to know the same. But off a Google Pixel 9 Pro XL phone.
For some reason Google has hobbled the pixels for this feature

I would go for one which supports 120hz.
With 60hz and 49inch monitors the mouse scroll movements are slow and stuck.

So modern laptops have 1 HDMI port and probably 1-2 USB Type C ports. What would you use this for?
