Paid 332 for this nearly 2 years ago (on prime day). Been a superb process for gaming and productivity. Scored 42500 Passmark (stock was like 41000) after doing some lite undervolting.

Pretty cool to have a high end processor only lose 20-25% of its value in two years. You got a good deal on a good CPU.

Yea Honestly, my buddy is looking to build a PC right now and compared to back then everything is a horrible value now. I got my 6900XT in August 2022 for $575 after rebate... And that was back when it was one of AMD's top cards. Same story for power supply, Toughpower GF1 850w for $90...

Prime day really is the time to do it, not only does amazon have a sale but Newegg usually has a sale to match it.

For gaming only, no

For productivity, probably.

But it also probably depends on what your plans are for the 5600x

I just did a few months ago, I am very happy with the performance. Everything is snapper, games feel more dialed in, responsive; a bit of a fps boost nothing mind blowing.
Paired with a 3080 10gig. I also render in after effects; much faster all around in that program.

You have to tell people what you're doing with the processor and what the other components (e.g. RAM and GPU) are or this question is like "should I buy a F150?" Do you need to toe? Do you need 4WD? How much are you looking to spend? In the same way, just asking if you should upgrade to a CPU that is 30% faster for productivity tasks and not noticeably faster for gaming below 100 fps is kind of tough to answer if we don't know what you're doing with it. If you're mostly using it for gaming, then maybe/probably not.

I upgraded mine only the CPU from 3700x to 5900x for 4 months now. It's worth every penny. Huge improvement on doing 3D modeling and CAD design.

I use it to mostly editing photos and use da vinci resolve to edit family videos.

This is still a 'kick ass' CPU when it comes to both productivity and gaming, even compared to the 5800X3D and Ryzen 7xxx series. Most likely you'll run into a GPU bottleneck before encountering any CPU limitations.

spend the extra and get an x3d model. you will be maxing out what the AM4 platform can do unless you are doing alot of rendering the extra cores wont really seem like much of a difference.

I second that. This is really a good price for a very competent CPU. I paid $335 for it in late 2022 and it has been running rock solid since.
