Yeah, you could upgrade AM5 later when prices go down, but an AM4 build is probably cheaper right now.
If you want gaming and have to stick to AM4, consider the ryzen 5700x3d. I was surprised to see how close it was to the 5800x3d, for 50-80$ less. For 250$ it's hard to beat for the gaming performance it provides. It's only like 2-5fps less than the 5800x3d
Of course the 7800x3d is better but it's also like $100+

My 5900x does great for gaming too , using 3 screens at 7680x1440 . Although the 3d series of cpu's may/will get you some extra fps , for all around gereral use such as it seems for your needs , the 5900x will do you better
