I do not recommend Spectrum Mobile. They are an MVNO on Verizon towers and when the network is congested, you have little to no connection because your priority is so low. There is also no upgrade option for a prioritized connection. I dropped them after 1 month.

First two trade-ins have successfully posted to my Spectrum account.

Still have two in process. One's allegedly stuck in Coppell TX, the other was delivered to Assurant on 02/05/2024; estimated assessment by 02/09/2024. Hoping the one in Coppell just didn't get scanned by USPS and is already in Assurant's hands.

--edit--
Just got two emails from Assurant approving the two trade-ins. So if your trade-in is stuck in Coppell, give it a few days and see if Assurant approves it.

Now just waiting for Spectrum to ship my last S24+ order.
One of my pre-order still hasn't ship, so even though Assurant already approved my trade in. The promo credit didn't return to the account yet while my other one already did. So Hopefully I get an update soon with the shippment and that will trigger an auto refund for the promo.

By active I mean connected to your account, it does not matter if you have it on or not. For sure you do not have to have it on since many people just buy the phone, activate it, and leave it off for 60 days then unlock. The question is what happens if you switch to another device on the line after you activate this one, can you still unlock at 60 days or do you have to have the device connected to the account (i.e. the associated device with the line) for 60 consecutive days?
I have the same question. I've read that some people were able to activate it and then put a different phone on their line, and still have the phone unlock 60 days later. Hopefully someone will chime in with their experience.

My trade-in was stuck in Coppel as well. However, now it's been passing through the network for a week now?! Will have to open an investigation.

I was holding off on opening the new phone until the credit was complete but it seems that Spectrum might charge the $50 restocking fee even if you leave it unopened, could be wrong but not sure waiting to open/activate really matters.

You mean it is still moving around? My showed it was stuck in Coppell for many days, still shows as in Coppell and undelivered even a couple of days now after the credit was issued. Assurant even seems to have received it a couple of days before they issued the credit. USPS just seems to have decided to just not scan the delivery of thousands of packages.

Interestingly, one other time that I have seen USPS not scan deliveries is with the IRS. I had to mail in a tax document and shipped it with delivery confirmation. Got to the destination quickly but they never marked it as delivered. I filed missing mail report and everything and nothing came of it. USPS just said sometimes when it is tax season they do not get around to scanning all the deliveries. This should not be permitted. Even if it takes them a day or two longer to deliver they should properly scan deliveries, especially if you are paying for service with tracking/delivery confirmation. I would argue not doing delivery scans is a form of fraud, but especially when it is part of the service that is being paid for.

I would like to do a second order this time in store for a S24. Can someone pls suggest the easiest and cheapest way to buy a trade in. Read about the moto walmart issues. Is Swappa a better choice? Pls suggest as i need my friend to buy it on my behalf and have to send the trade in device online or have him pick up from nearby store. TIA.

You could potentially wait until they start accepting S24's for trade in and then trade in the S24 for S24+ on your own account. No guarantees, obviously depends on them continuing to offer this promotion for a few months like last year, but some people reported doing it last year. In terms of your actual question, as others have pointed out you could get a phone off ebay, but even the Walmart thing is less risk if doing it in store. Even if the store were to reject it for some reason you could just pop back over to Walmart and have them properly scan it in the system. I think best thing to do if buying at Walmart is probably to buy in the electronic section where maybe they are more likely to process it correctly at the register.

Did anybody would bought at Walmart use self-checkout? If people had success with self-checkout processing things correctly then maybe that could reduce a variable. Or maybe self-checkout is the issue.

Shipped my package on 2/3. It moves to the next location, and then departed, but ever since then the status on USPS website has said:

"In Transit to Next Facility, Arriving On Time. Your package is moving within the USPS network and is on track to be delivered by the expected delivery date. It is currently in transit to the next facility."

Over 4 days and no status update.

Anybody else had this issue when shipping your trade in?

1. Do you know the exact moto g model / price. I cant order it myself and need my friend in NC to do it as he owns the Spectrum account.
2. I do have Spectrum stores near me in CA . But can i do this trade in CA on his behalf or get myself added to his account.
Has anyone tried this

3.. Finally, should i order a new line or upgrade on existing S24 line? Will my S24 get unlocked after 60 days tho it isnt connected to a Spectrum line. One of my friend was able to unlock a Cox phone outside US by just being connected to Wifi. (but the phone was connected to phone line tho')

See my previous post.

Either they lost my package (would be super pissed if so, because even if the bar code got scratched I made sure to cover the bottom half of the barcode with packing tape, so it wouldn't get completely ripped off or ruined).

I imagine if it gets lost, they'll only give me $100 from the insurance. Which is an issue, as I paid $800 for the phone <2 years ago. So have a decent chunk of change invested in my trade in.

Can't even file a missing package claim yet on USPS website, as it says if status doesn't change by 2/8/24, to refile it. So even their website is garbage, as it IS 2/8/24.

Like you said, USPS doesn't seem to be doing their jobs.
