Looks like a drone. Will it deliver fast and reliable internet with good range?

How does it compare to the TP-Link Archer AXE7800 Tri-Band Wi-Fi 6E Multi-Gig Router, 2.5 Gbps Port (https://www.costco.com/TP-Link-Ar...304.html)?

Got the Costco 7800 one, it's working great so far, just know they sell security features for cost, and I don't believe you can load other firmware to it, if you can on this Asus that would be a big plus

This is a 4x4 stream router for both 2.4 and 5ghz.
It's supported by Merlin if you want additional features.

I wish these routers did not cost as much as a laptop though.

Still waiting for this to hit under $200. Last time I bought it at $212 in April. Very very good range and signal strength though.

I am using one right now, and it's been one of the best routers that I've used in the last 20+ years in terms of range, speed and stability.

Yes, despite the price, one of asus' best router hardware.

On paper, TP-Link AXE7800 is better due to wifi 6e (ax6000 is wifi 6), and tri-band is better than dual band. I don't know how is TP-link's hardware.

Bummer that it's not 6e. Some folks with Quest 3's swear 6e makes a big difference due to the 6GHz channel.

I'm too 6e for my shirt
Too 6e for my shirt
So 6e it hertz

Prices are still relatively high for "old" Wifi 6 non-E.

If you don't mind talking to humans in store and YMMV, note that Best Buy has the same $230 price and might allow you to trade an old modem or router for an extra 15% off (making this $195.50).

Router:

Recycle Offer:

If it's not in stock at your store, you can try (very YMMV) to ask a manager if you can have it ordered in store for delivery to your house with the 15% discount (before you hand over your old equipment).

Only a dual band router, while its a great dual band router, not worth anything over $200 IMO though. Asus launched this and its little brother at a very poor time when the world was already on wifi 6E and the first wifi 7 routers started hitting store shelves...

Unless you also own other $200+ modern routers, this doesn't really say much given that hardware gets better and cheaper over time. It goes without saying a $200+ router in 2023 is going to provide better performance than anything made 10+ years ago. If anything, saying "one of" the best is a bit concerning, implying you've owned better-performing routers.
