You can add one 32GB RAM stick to this laptop for a total of 40GB. Each DDR5 module runs in dual channel. DDR5 moved the controller to the Ram module and each module runs with 2 x 32bit channels. Even running a single stick of DDR5 you will still be running dual channel unlike DDR4 where two sticks were required for dual channel. There are about 5 other threads on here regarding this laptop.

Specs look great. Some really good/detailed reviews on BestBuy's site (paid or somehow compensated reviews it seems). Only downside, for me, is the 60Hz screen. 120Hz and I'd might try it out.

I got the inspiron 2 in 1 oled last time…is this better than that? I'm thinking if it's worth returning.

I had this one with AMD, the 1080p OLED screen really is not that good. I think looking at 1440p screens is good at this price point. Once you use a 1440p laptop you can't go back to 1080. Esp at 15.6 inch. Just my 2 cents.

RAM max is 16 GB

I think we will have to wait for someone to try it. The I9 version says 16 per slot. This version says 8 onboard and 8 in a slot. Makes me think you can also put 16 in the slot making the max 24gb Ram. I hate onboard RAM. Very weird.

Thanks for this ddr5 specific info. This makes it absolutely sh*tshow on Asus's part to not put a 16GB stick instead of 2 8GBs when one slot is soldered.

I'm looking to buy one of these Asus laptops. This one or the 14x for $700 is a better deal?

Agreed, but I highly doubt the typical consumer would ever upgrade their ram. I'd buy this laptop if it wasn't 15.6"

I bought the 14x because it's smaller and more portable. However this guy has a dedicated GPU and a slot to upgrade your ram. It's also non touch/oled. This is a better laptop if you plan on keeping it for a long time

You don't need a 1440 display for a 15" laptop. That resolution if for monitors 25" and up. If you want the display on your 1080 laptop to look like it's close to 1440 just go to display options and set scale to 110% or 115%. By default it is set to 125% on this particular laptop.
