I purchased this laptop a few days ago. It has a aluminum casing and the build is solid. I upgraded the SSD to 2TB and the 16GB ram is good for now, I might upgrade later. The battery life is not so great, but that is expected with this powerful laptop. I'm very happy with my purchase.

The screen might be nice, but it is still 1080. The extra 200 for a higher res monitor does not justify the price exp when there have been good MSI gaming systems for the same price, 2K screen, and a 4070+ for about the same price.

Thanks. I had a vivabook s 14.5 oled and when from side (almost 180 degrees) looked at the screen I could see display panel not flat and had waves.

How does this compare to the Lenovo on sale for 750? LOQ (15" AMD) with RTX 4050

MSI is a solid and reliable brand that has been around as long as any. I've had good luck with them, although some of their laptops have had serious well-documented hinge issues. I think these have been resolved with recent models though, and I'd trust MSI as much as much as any brand.

it's very easy to find how terrible msi hinges are. look at YouTube teardowns that shows how they have 0 reinforcement. probably one of the worst planned obsolescence you'll ever see. msi laptops are something I wouldnt buy unless it was a fire sale.and they have not been resolved in recent models. they're just as bad with only plastic.

the soldered RAM kills it for me. Don't understand why, knowing that the dual channels allow RAM to be faster, that you would solder any RAM other than to force buyers to spend more for a higher RAM model. If it wasn't for that I would be seriously considering it. Probably why they are having to cut the costs on it now. Don't support this corporate behavior.

I compared this Asus 1080P OLED versus the Zenbook 14x 14.5" 2.8K 120hz OLED side by side at BestBuy.

At BestBuy while watching some full screen Youtube 4K HDR video at full resolution, I couldn't tell any noticeable difference between them. The clarity and color and smoothness was virtually indistinguishable with my eyes. Scrolling a webpage with text and images looked nearly the same smoothness. I'm assuming the OLED 1ms that they both have helps a lot more than a higher refresh rate on say a slower IPS panel.

The only difference was the text sharpness if I'm within 18 inches. The text looks super crisp on the 2.8K OLED while on the 1080P you can see a little fuzziness and antialiasing. Hopefully that can be fixed a little with some ClearType adjustments. It isn't that bad if I sit back at a normal distance or if I'm using an external monitor.

If you are gaming on your laptop with FPS the 60hz screen might be holding you back. If you are docking this for the most part I don't think it makes a difference.

Unfortunately it was all ASUS in the area and I couldn't get a side-by-side comparison between this one and an equivalent laptop with a 2K IPS from MSI / HP or another brand I was considering, but it held its own versus a 2.8K OLED.
