Fyi, it has erythritol. Some may be okay with that, but I am avoiding it after the recent study came out linking it to serious health problems. A couple of grams of sugar in the regular product is fine with me. Better still, there are plenty of options with no sugar or sweeteners at all. Just add a touch of honey (or stevia drops) to your smoothies if you really need the extra sweetness.

it's bizzare. this claims to be "Sugar free", however the total, amount of sugar on the label is the same as the pure peanut version. it is somehow 10 calories lower per serving, but the amount of protein is less by 1 gram also.

the most strange thing of all, between the two labels, they both have a total fat amount of 2g, but it only accounts for 2% on the sugar free label, and 3% on the regular despite being the same serving size. why would anyone get the sugar free version over the regular? is this trying to be like sweet peanut butter akin to reeses or something? i don't understand the reason behind this product existing.

Unfortunately there are. IMO something like peanut powder really doesn't require added sugar. It tastes great with fruit so you can get your sugars naturally.

I think erythritol has been proven to be safe.

What do you do with this? Add to your vitamix smoothies? I use regular chunky peanut butter for that. There was a crazy sale at a local grocery store and it was $1 per 16oz jar so I bought 20. I use two tablespoons per workout smoothie. I guess better macros?
Peanut powder has a much much better fat to protein ratio than Peanut butter, particularly compared to your average store bought peanut butter that adds oils in addition to the natural oils in the peanut butter. Most grocery store peanut butters are not healthy as a result of all the added BS. In terms of a workout smoothie peanut powder will provide you more protein per gram added. A peanut powder mixed berry smoothie is delicious.

It's because corporate lobbying groups around the world have gotten many governments to exclude some sweeteners as being counted as sugar. Mexico for example is having a big fight with big sugar right now over it's labeling requirements.

It's absolutely misleading to the end consumer.

Walmart sells their brand, a 30oz tub for $10. It has the same exact macros as this. In their tub you get 71 servings. 1 serving of walmarts brand is 12grams. 1 serving of this one is 16gram. But when you equalize both of them in terms of grams per serving, all the macros are identical. It's a joke when these other brands say sugar free or high protein peanut butter powder. It's just peanut flour. None of them are higher protein unless they are adding extra protein into the mix, which they aren't. Go get the walmart tub and save yourself way more money.

For years I've bought the Kroger brand of natural peanut butter.
Around $2 a jar for 15 ounces.
Ingredients: peanuts, salt, oil.
Chunky or smooth.
From their website:
"Just two ingredients; roasted peanuts and salt. No preservatives, no added sugar, no added oils, no added stabilizers. Natural oil separation will occur.

No Preservatives

No Added Sugar

Just Two Ingredients - Roasted Peanuts & Salt

Gluten-Free"

If you have a Big Lots near you, a 30oz container is $10 everyday (not sugar-free -- 2g sugar, 1 g added, but no erythritol). It's our go-to brand. Make the price even sweeter with their $5 off $15 coupons.

A guy on Ex-twitter made a video and said it's just fine? Stop the presses. What has science ever done for us anyway?

Erithritol?!?! No thank you. PS: it's poison if your dog gets it

You're thinking of Xylitol. That's toxic to dogs, not erythritol.

It certainly does. Naturally occurring sugars are more complex and take the body longer to digest, resulting in a lower spike in blood sugar that's more consistent. In addition, natural sugars accompany fiber, which also helps regulate blood sugar levels. Added sugars provide no benefits, only downsides.

You do you but that study was debunked. If you use a huge amount of erythritol then you might have a problem. The tiny amount in a serving isn't going to cause a problem. https://youtu.be/U0p-EOHv6gY?si=z-CjI3yQYui7yBJi

The sugar is not from real sugar, it's from erythritol, which is a sugar alcohol and does not impact your insulin as regular sugar would. For that reason, the sugar alcohol amount is deducted from the carb count. Here's some info on erythritol: https://perfectketo.com/erythrito...sweetener/
