Fyi, it has erythritol. Some may be okay with that, but I am avoiding it after the recent study came out linking it to serious health problems. A couple of grams of sugar in the regular product is fine with me. Better still, there are plenty of options with no sugar or sweeteners at all. Just add a touch of honey (or stevia drops) to your smoothies if you really need the extra sweetness.

it's bizzare. this claims to be "Sugar free", however the total, amount of sugar on the label is the same as the pure peanut version. it is somehow 10 calories lower per serving, but the amount of protein is less by 1 gram also.

the most strange thing of all, between the two labels, they both have a total fat amount of 2g, but it only accounts for 2% on the sugar free label, and 3% on the regular despite being the same serving size. why would anyone get the sugar free version over the regular? is this trying to be like sweet peanut butter akin to reeses or something? i don't understand the reason behind this product existing.

I was pretty impressed with this last time I bought it. It does have a tiny bit of artificial sweetener taste but not like a stevia product tends to. I mix into it things rather than trying to add water to make it a butter (too runny).

Thanks for the post.

As someone who doesn't really care for the taste of these other sweeteners, I purchased the Original PBfit 30 oz. for $13.06 after S&S. It's a better price per oz. if you don't mind the 2g of sugar per serving.

Erythritol isn't digestible so perhaps that's how they're able to only report net carbs and net calories?

Yeah, I watch Layne's videos too, and he tends to do this with everything (aspartame, etc.). My philosophy is that if I really don't need to consume a particular thing for my well being, I am going to err on the side of caution and just avoid it. Avoiding Erythritol causes no hardship to me and just makes me buy less junk food anyways, so I am okay with it.

On the other hand if someone said that eating milk products have been shown to cause X, Y or Z, that would be a lot harder as milk products are my primary source of protein (whey isolate, greek yoghurt, etc.).

I feel like all natural peanut butter is already pretty natural and safe. Not trusting anything that reduces the calorie count on it. Have to replace something with something else.

Are there studies on it causing health problems? All I've heard is that it causes digestive issues among some people.

  • Higher blood levels of the artificial sweetener erythritol were associated with increased risk of heart attack and stroke.
  • The results highlight the need for further study of erythritol's long-term risks for cardiovascular health.

A 30 oz jar of this is 13.99 at costco. It's organic too, but contains 4g sugar per 2 tbsp.

What do you do with this? Add to your vitamix smoothies? I use regular chunky peanut butter for that. There was a crazy sale at a local grocery store and it was $1 per 16oz jar so I bought 20. I use two tablespoons per workout smoothie. I guess better macros?

Protein ice cream recipes and I use it as a normal spread on toast or waffles if I want a lower calorie version. I've been eating more natural peanut butter in moderation too
