While 2Ah batteries may still be too small in your opinion, don't just think in amp-hours. Think in watt-hours.

An Ego mower at 52V with a 4Ah battery is 208Wh.

The Greenworks at 80V with a 2Ah battery is 160Wh, or 23% less capacity.

Again, the 2Ah may be too small to desire, but think watt-hours for a comparison.

Ya, those 2ah batteries are a deal breaker in my opinion. I have the same exact mower and it came with (1) 4ah battery and I paid around $250/shipped when Amazon ran a deal last year. I'd personally wait for a better deal. The 2ah batteries are fine for edgers or weed trimmers, but not for mowers or blowers.

EDIT: This is also the older model that has since been upgraded with (2) battery banks and a headlight along with being able to fold more easily for storage.

I bought this mower with the 2 2Ah batteries in April 2016 for my medium-sized lawn. I can say that, especially the first 4-5 years, I was able to get roughly 30 min from each battery. Not 15, like some have said. I was able to get through my entire lawn on just the 2 batteries. I would start with both batteries being fully charged. Use Battery A, which would die roughly as I finished the front and sides of my lawn. Then I'd quickly grab Battery B, put A on the charger, and maybe grab a quick drink, then mow the rest of the lawn. By the time I'm done, A is fully charged and I put B on the charger. Take a shower and then B is fully charged and both batteries are ready to go for next time.
Now in year 6, the batteries have degraded ever so slightly but not bad. The mower itself is quite nice and still going strong. Also want to add that the mower is a bit heavier than other similar mowers as it's more metal and heavy duty compared to some other electric mowers like other Greenworks models which have more plastic.
The 2 2-Ah batteries have been great for my needs and honestly using 1 5-Ah battery would add quite a lot more weight into the unit and make it that much heavier.

I have a similar model, and between my greenworks tools I've got 1 5ah battery, and 2 2ah. Once, I didnt fully charge my 5ah and only got through 3/4 of the yard on that half charge. I popped in a 2ah and it lasted 10 minutes in thick grass, barely finished with the other.

Spend more for one with a better battery. It's so worth it.

You are comparing max voltage of the Greenworks and the nominal voltage of the Ego. And while Wh does compare total energy, comparing products with different voltages doesn't really tell you how long they should last due to different motors and deaigns. The correct comparison of batteries should be-

Ego 50.4V x 4Ah = 201.6Wh
Greenworks 72V x 2Ah = 144Wh

So That's about 29% less. And 2Ah is way too small for this mower unless you have a tiny yard in a city setting. I think 4Ah is the acceptable threshold. I had been using 2.5Ah, but I'm only using the mower to get the corners missed by a riding mower.

I have the Kobalt 80v with 2 2ah batteries. With the rapid charger you can basically mow forever because they charge faster than they run out.

The batteries DO have a 4 year warranty, and they will replace them pretty quickly. I had a couple bad batteries and they asked me for the serial numbers and sent me new ones within 7 days, and they don't require the old ones be sent back.

Most definitely worth it, especially if you're not mowing your grass every single week. I have worn down a 4ah battery by mowing my 1/4 acre lot because of the thickness of the grass. The mower auto adjusts based upon how heavy the grass is, so unless your mowing short grass than definitely wait for a deal on the 4ah kit or understand that you will be swapping out batteries, and if you're fine with that than go for it.

No, push only. My yard is flat so it's fine for me, but if you're older or have a hilly property than grab the self-propelled version.

Got the 60V version with 5AH battery for about a hundred less last week. Works fine. Wish there's an option to slow charge.

I have the self propelled version. Love it.
Best part is that I don't have to put my AirPods on full blast due to quiet running compared to gas motor

Why would you want to show charge?

This appears to be similar to what I have (mine came with a 4ah and 2ah, plus is self propelled).

- This is an older model. I haven't used the new models. It looks like new models have a head lamp, dual battery bay, and a sturdier handle (but cost considerably more).
- The 2ah isn't a lot of run time and sizable yards may put a lot of strain on the smaller batteries.
- It's relatively light, cuts well, and the noise level is very good.
- You'll probably want at least another 80v tool set and/or batteries, the 2ah may wear quickly since they'll go through more charge cycles with higher drain rates per cell.
- This mower can comfortably shred occasional mulch and small branches. I haven't tested for a limit, because it's bad for blades/motors/etc (for any mower).

I'd say it's a good balance of performance and price, would suggest getting a 4ah battery and/or another 80v set to rotate batteries.

Less heat, easier on batteries.

The batteries do get warm when charging, at least with the 80v set I have. It's a nice convenience to charge fast, but I'd rather not when I'm not in a hurry.
