How does this compare to usual deals from Greenworks?

Must have or should I wait if I have time to keep looking?

Seems like a good deal. I'm not sure if there's a catch, like this being an old model or something.

[edit] Looks like others have confirmed that this is an old model.

This is the older model, I bought one in 2019. It is a good solid push mower, but I sold it and bought the latest from Costco (self propelled, dual battery ports, newer design with turbo speed and better handle and controls).

The biggest drawback here is the 2.0 Ah batteries. I've had 3 or 4 go dead in the past few years, they don't seem to hold up well in high amp draw tools. Two were replaced N/C and two were too old and were discarded.

If you can swing the Costco model, I think it will be on sale in April for $499 with a 4 Ah and a 2 Ah battery, plus an extra blade. When I bought, Costco extended the battery warranty for 4 extra years for a total of 8 years. I believe that is still current.

Costco is the way to go, for warrantee alone. These things are pumped out by the millions in china with little QC. Your going to have some duds and piece of mind is worth it

For a budget version, any thoughts on this at Lowe's? https://www.lowes.com/pd/SKIL-40-...lsrc=aw.ds

I would personally wait. Even if ok with the older mower model, the 2Ah batteries have been problematic in ways that even the 2.5Ah have not been.
I don't know the reason (I own mostly 2.5Ah and one 4Ah), or if that has been corrected, but even if they no longer have problems, the smaller capacity is more of a hassle. I'd much much rather have a single 4Ah. The 2Ah aren't really optimal for any OPE that I can think of. Blowers use a lot of energy, and weight difference does not seem to matter for the string trimmers, for weight balance reasons.

2AH will go fast. May want to consider getting more batteries.

Yeah I have a smaller front and backyard, maybe 3000 sq ft and my 6.0Ah battery is about 3/4 spent when done

They did for me when I bought an LG TV. I paid $2200 and a week later the price dropped to $1800. I presented my receipt to the Service Agent and she started the process but looking at the computer screen and stopped. She then said, "I see it will be $200 less on the next ad, wait another week". I did wait and ended up with a $600 refund in Price Protection.

They price protect for 30 days, one of the reasons I love Costco!

I've had this model and batteries for a couple years. Not had any problems and batteries are going good. I have 1 other older battery I got from Amazon warehouse and rotate through them for my large yard trimming needs. Use them in mower, chainsaw, and blower. I like that they work long enough to get a good bit done and then gives me a break to get a drink or something when I swap out. By the time I run out again the battery would be charged again if I needed it. But usually I opt to use the third battery if I need it for a couple minutes.

Price wise, I think this is about as good as you'll get on multiple batteries and a mower. Might get a deal with bigger batteries or one bigger and one similar, but it will be at a significant price increase.

Do note that Walmart is now carrying the 60v lineup. If stuff like this doesn't get sold much or they look like inventory was over calculated; they might end up with some on clearance at the end of the season. But, I personally would rather have the 80v and not sure why they stock the 60v unless it's to hook lots of unaware people on it.

I believe the big players (Walmart, HD, Costco, Best Buy, Lowes, etc) select different platforms to prevent direct price comparisons and "price matching". For a while, Lowes carried only 60V in Greenworks, but their house brand Kobalt in 80V (made by Greenworks),

It's rare to see exact same models at different Big Box stores.

That is a good buy, primarily for the 6 Ah battery (I wonder if "6 Ah" is a typo, elsewhere in the ad they mention 5 Ah). The mower is a rebranded version of the older single port GW model. Nothing wrong with that, the latest GW has a better handle and controls. I don't see a "Turbo" button option on the Kobalt. Turbo mode does a better job of mulching, with more vacuum/lift power.

One major issue is that the Kobalt has a 3 year battery warranty, the Costco/GW has 8 years on the batteries.

Also, the Kobalt and GW battery/charger platforms can be modified to be cross-compatible with a DIY user modification..
