The laptop is super fast. Only cons are the awkward keyboard which has numpad (but seems many have it now?). And this thing is a beast. It's big and heavy. So i wouldn't get it if you plan to take this to class, coffee shop, library etc.
I wonder for those who got the refurb deal f they can return within 15 day window and get this one.
I was able to get an open-box, excellent for $286. I'm only wary of size and battery life for watching movies on airplane rides.
Cons: no Xe graphics so no future using it with Steam (irrelevant to me)
Pros: Thunderbolt, decent processor for the price, updates until June 2030
EDIT: Reviews seem to indicate that the Core i3 CPU in this chromebook is quite a solid performer. The main area it is lacking would be the GPU, in case you are considering playing STEAM games when they come to Chrome OS.

- i3
- 8GB RAM
- 128GB HDD
- 16:10 300 nit 1080p screen
Cons
- Average speakers
- Awkward number pad on keyboard deck
Woulda been hot at $299 but still a decent price for the spec especially considering it's 16" screen

was considering getting the 3 year accidental warranty on the open box - brought the price to a few dollars under brand new without the warranty around $408-411
still waiting to pull the trigger
8GB DDR is plenty enough for a Chromebook. I use a 4k monitor and the laptop screen. I constantly have like 40 tabs open and run four apps. No problem.

My year old I3 1115g4 last about the same on the battery. The fan is quiet most of the time. It too was open box. It looked brand new.
I do travel with it but have an 11" for Air travel. It is not light. I do wish I had the 1200 screen this one has. Better for what I do on it.
I am disappointed in the screen, unfortunately. The resolution is fine for me (even though it's only 141 ppi), my problem is that white is basically a light yellow on this screen. Comparing a white background on this chromebook when put side by side to my midrange 3 year old work laptop really shows how bad the white is on this machine. Googling doesn't really give any advice about how to fix this, apart from making sure the screen setting is not in night light mode (it's not).

Unless you find an OLED, QLED from Samsung, or a super bright LED you are stuck with low resolution, low brightness crap even in machines as expensive as $500

I still think this chromebook is a good deal for ~$300, just not as amazing as I initially thought. I think I'll keep it unless a truly mind blowing chromebook deal comes along on BF.
