This was confusing to me, so a little more explanation for noobs. The 'pay later' option doesnt require applying for credit, instead you enroll an existing cc for them to charge over 4 interest free payments. Just choose 'pay later' when checking out and enroll in 'zip' quad pay... and get $30 off.
" 2.1.7. ACCOUNT FEES. Late Fee. If you have not paid your Total Minimum Payment in full by the applicable Due Date, then we may charge you a late fee of up to $7 (the applicable fees may be limited by statute and vary based on your state of residence, but will not exceed $7 per late payment or three such late fees per Zip Purchase).
Merchant Fees. We also may charge fees to Merchants and Retailers accepting a Zip Service for payment. These fees are paid at your direction for the participation of such Merchants and Retailers in accepting Zip Services for payments."

So.. do they draw the other three payments from u automatically or do WE have to pay it manually on time? I'm not gonna remember to log on and pay.

Update: it's automatic. Probably selling our private info but whatever. I got 4x$90.36 or $360.

I suspected what you were able to document. The key is that they get payment from the retailers (so that people buy more crap). I'm sure they do also make use of the data they get (connecting your credit card to some personally identifiable information).

Definitely less of a headache than walking into a Best Buy (as that was on my to-do list for today, but for nothing other than a couple of these drives). I guess if I were a real-deal data hoarder and Slickdealer I'd still be running off to BB to upgrade every NAS drive and not just the two for the new Synology I just bought on BF(?). laugh out loud

Good luck!
Jon

FYI, for anyone else having this issue. It is because I use google voice and they do not allow VOIP. I switch it to my normally unused phone number and it took it.

You can actually go into the Zip dashboard and make the additional 3 payments today if you wanted to so you don't have to worry about any late fees. After you make the second payment, the option to make the third payment will be available and so on.

Why is that better than having the HDD mailed to you, without having to trade something in?

Let alone having to argue with the BB employees that have no clue what the program is, nor how to provide the coupon??
or risk buying a returned drive at BB that someone has rewrapped and replaced the drive in
(which is becoming an issue this holiday season if you look at the different people posting stories about getting burned at BB recently)

probably your phone # doesn't pass their check, prepaid and VOIP numbers might not verify

It appears you cannot use paypal with Zip checkout? direct to credit card only.

So those with Chase+paypal 5% back can do better at best buy.

Thanks, OP. First time ZIP user myself and looks like you can just pay it all off from their dashboard in one go, too. Ordered my 2 drives.

Zip will hurt your credit. Just Google it.

It'll only hurt your credit if you don't pay your bills on time or you default on your payment. Like any other credit card bill you have to pay.

Just got rejected from Zip after they did a "soft credit pull." I'm not sure why I got rejected as I actually have a really good credit score.
