14TB externals were $200 last year. For inflation, or whatever, $10 more isn't bad. It's the best I have seen so far this year that I can remember.

- EDIT:

User penpex pointed out there was sale on Amazon "Lightning Sale" for 14TB WD Elements for $199.99 early in the morning of 08 Feb 2022. Additionally, using an Amazon credit card produces points on the account, effectively reducing the cost further. Thanks for that correction, penpex.

However, looking at the comments, the units sold rapidly. 100% were claimed within about an hour, evidencing how valuable some people people consider these external drives to be at such a price. It would have been a difficult sale to take advantage of, but the point stands that these externals are still out there for about $200 or a bit less in 2022.

I still think +$10 (+5% over Amazon's sale) for the same unit is a reasonable deal if one needs the drive immediately (Limit 2). Then again, it's from Newegg, which can be problematic for some folks.

- END EDIT
It should be shuckable and CMR. My drive is WDC WD140EDFZ-11A0VA0 . I forgot if mines a elements or easystore. However, it might have the 3.3v pin on the *Sata.
Yes, this one does appear to be shuckable. Here's a video with instructions on how to shuck from this particular style of enclosure.

Not my favorite retailer after the GamersNexus story, but I'll make an exception this once.

There was the $199 same HDD at Amazon on Feb. 8, that was cheaper, and not that long ago, and not Newegg...

What' their return policy? It's gotta be less convenient than Amazon's...(EDIT: seems like you can send it back within 30 days, so they don't have their restocking fees anymore, interesting. It seems like if you open the box and test it it should still be ok....).

Does anybody know if you ask for the RMA within 30 days, if you still have to send it back within the 30 days, or if it gives you like N extra days to do so? What would be the value of N then?

you can print the return label on the 30th day if you want, it's good for 7 days so plenty of time to drop it off or have UPS swing by to pick it up

by that same argument gas was $3... not that long ago too Wink

Newegg is sketchy with their return service. Unlike other retailer, you have to fight to get your money back, otherwise they'll charge restocking fees. Also, from past experience, I'd rather pickup HDD in retail store than have it shipped and tossed around. Less headache

Well I would be more interested in hearing about the performance of the product rather than a debate about whether it ever sold for $3 less at some flash sale that was sold out in 15 minutes. Newegg has always done right by me . Recently I had an item shown as delivered (which it was — but just not to me! ) . That has always been a tough issue to deal with but Newegg didn't wait to put a trace on the shipment etc like other retailers do — they just sent a replacement right out

I wouldn't be too worried with a new hdd compared to a used mobo.

I got this external drive when on sale at Best Buy. It has been good backup storage and recommend! 210 is good.

You're not wrong, but Newegg's quality as an electronics/PC site has declined since they were bought by a Chinese company.

The Hassle Free Returns policy looks recent (~Sept 2021). It's worth noting the issue that GN had was related to open box product; which is a different focus area of the site.

I've personally stepped back from purchasing from Newegg altogether, but that's more related to the fact I wasn't happy with how they displayed whether something is sold by them or a third party.

That all being said, this is a great price point and if others are willing to purchase from Newegg, go for it.
