FYI there appears to be a limit associated to Address. I couldnt not figure it out for the longest time until I changed address on my second order. Observations:

- max order of (3) for non-business account on first tranaction to Address1
- able to get to checkout (1) additional drive to Address1 for second transaction
- anything with qty 2-3 to Address1 for second transaction returns an error and cannot continue
- order for (3) drives to Address2 on second transaction has no issues

Same.. haven't seen the 8TBs go for $120-130 in a longgg time. Also, those don't seem to be guaranteed Helium anymore. It would also be nice to see 10TB for about $150-160. They always make bigger profit margins on the pricier drives, though.

The 8TB for $120 at Costco is probably the best you will see. That came out to $15/GB and this one is $12.14, You'd need an 8TB to drop to $100 for that which is pretty much impossible....

The Seagate 8TB at Costco is SMR iirc. Not so good if shucking.

I brought in a USB stick and an external drive because I wasn't sure if just the stick would be accepted. Turns out they took the stick! I asked if I could just turn in both drives for two coupons (buying two 14TB drives) and it worked. Final total $339.98 before tax.

Can we stop with these comments? "Easy to fail" is not true. Do they fail? Yes, but it's not likely to happen and you put safeguards in place in the rare chance they do fail.

As for speed, you simply don't use these for items where speed is an issue. They're more for archiving.

Realistically, I'd be filling these drives either from the internet, optical drive (Blu-ray ripping), or an older drive. All of these media are bound to be slower than this new HDD.

As for reliability, I've had a 4TB SSD that got erased I believe due to a power surge from my laptop's USB port. My only saving grace was that I had an up-to-date backup of the data on HDD. Of course, I still lost the data I was working on for that day. At these prices, one can buy 3x of these drives for triple redundancy for less than what a single 8TB SSD would cost.
