I'd rather just clear some garbage data and hold off until a large-capacity SSD become affordable.
As for speed, you simply don't use these for items where speed is an issue. They're more for archiving.
I can have 14TB of my data disappear when the delicate HDD fails for any and all reasons.
Thinking about swapping my 8TBs out for these. Curious if they're noisier or hotter.

As for reliability, I've had a 4TB SSD that got erased I believe due to a power surge from my laptop's USB port. My only saving grace was that I had an up-to-date backup of the data on HDD. Of course, I still lost the data I was working on for that day. At these prices, one can buy 3x of these drives for triple redundancy for less than what a single 8TB SSD would cost.
