These usually hit $200 a few times a year from best buy. If you are in the hunt for storage, not a bad time to grab one if you arent gonna be heartbroken over the extra $10.
Yes, it needs a external power supply. The power supply is included in the box. The only external mechanical drives that don't require one are the 2.5in laptop drives that can pull power from the USB port.
Good price -- I bought a few of these and the 18TB ones during black friday, prices were just a few bucks less.
One note -- if you plan to use this plugged in full-time, you'll likely be very annoyed by the sounds it makes. I'm only using mine as a backup/storage drive, but the few times I've left it plugged in overnight it just makes weird noises every few minutes (all of them do it also, so it's not a case of a bad copy) which can be heard from 5+ feet away.
I think I read this is a new thing they've put in here to either improve performance or longevity, or something.. but it's very annoying. None of my older drives do this.
