I've used one of these for years for my truck and am buying another one for my wife's car. Very powerful and has been solid for me. Last time it was this price was in January so it looks like a fairly regular price drop but worth noting if you're in the market!

The GB40 is an ultra-portable, lightweight, and compact portable lithium car battery jump starter pack for 12-volt batteries. With it, you can safely jump start a dead battery in seconds - up to 20 times on a single charge. It's a mistake-proof portable car battery jump starter battery booster pack, making it safe for anyone to use and features spark-proof technology, as well as reverse polarity protection. The GB40 portable car battery jump starter integrates with a high-output 100 lumen LED flashlight with 7 light modes. Including low, medium, high, flashing, strobe, and emergency SOS. It can hold its charge for up to one year without being recharged. Its internal battery can be used to recharge any personal mobile devices like smartphones, tablets, or any other USB device, can be recharged by any powered USB port. It's rated at 1000-amps, and suitable for use on gasoline engines up to 6 Liters and diesel engines up to 3 Liters, such as a car, boat, lawnmower, and more. Included is the GB40 battery booster jump starter pack, heavy-duty battery clamps, USB charging cable, 12-volt USB car charger, microfiber storage bag, a 1-year limited, and lifetime customer support.

Not sure about Prime Day but checkout price for me was $63.30 during Black Friday weekend.

That being said, I also have a 1500A Gooloo Jump Starter from an older SD (~$50) and honestly have not noticed any significant difference between the two besides 1-yr warranty for the Noco and 18-month warranty for the Gooloo. They both get the job done.

Overall I would say this is an ok deal for this Noco Jump Starter but you can definitely save a few bucks if you can wait a little while.

Edited due to user error! I likely wasn't getting the 1000Amps without the boost button.

The build quality is better than others I have.
I have several of the made in china ones with the blue plastic tabs that connect the cables, it's a weak point. The Noco's have a better cable attachment.

Edit: actually I've owned two of the GB40s and of note, one was made in Malaysia and one in Vietnam.

Own this, it doesn't start my 3.7L sedan. Overpriced imho. Maybe I'd have better luck with the GB50, but by the specs, GB40 should've been fine.

Surprisingly, I got this one for like $35 and it starts it right up:

Should be more than enough. Starts my Chevy V8 with no issue for plenty of times before needed to charge. Maybe you have a bad unit. Also I did notice that you need to clamp on to battery post, then turn it on and the hit the exclamation button when ready to start vehicle. Learned the hard way my self. I Should have read the directions .

Not a great deal - this shoud be $60 or so (I have two GB40s and this is the price paid for each in separate deals). There is a lot of cheaper competing jump starters with similar specs.

I own this and the Gooloo 2000A jumper. This unit is more robust/durable. The Gooloo definitely feels more fragile.

NOCO is a tried and true brand. It jumped my completely dead 5.0L with ease (dont forget to press and hold the BOOST button when its needed in situations like this). Havent tried the Gooloo on that one yet but has worked on smaller engines.

The NOCO goes with me on road trips because I KNOW I can trust it. I'm not entirely convinced of the Gooloo... yet.

Is this widget necessary if I recently installed new car battery from Costco?

I own the previous generation of this for 3 years and its never let me down. Started my car at 20 below zero even. this version seems to fix one of the 2 issues I have; the clamps seem to be much thinner and less bulky which is good. Mine had a lot of excess plastic that can make it hard to get into tight spaces depending on where your battery or jump points are. the 2nd which still appears to be an issue is the cable length. Its only about 2ft long which again can make it difficult to hook up.

This one or the Audew 1,500A for $59 or 2000A for $79.99?

projectfarm liked the audew better. The topvision has been on sale lately and also highly rated.

TD. Waaay overpriced, for what it is. Maybe a ok deal at under $50.

I got this one:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08FJ243R7

With many more features and a higher (1500A) rating than the OP, for a SD under $50.

For the SAME price, I'd still rather get the one I linked, with the bigger battery and cigarette lighter adaptor, than the OP.

What do you mean press and hold?
You don't mean you need to press while starting do you?

Last time I used it, I drained my Noco by having to leave it hooked up for like 5 minutes to get the battery charged enough to pass the "clicking" stage and start turning over.

I do agree on the build quality. It's very nicely put together.

No, not while trying to start. If you power on the unit, the color LEDs will light up (which one(s) depends on how much charge is remaining).

If you press and hold the (!)/BOOST after the unit has been turned on, the LEDs will light up and flash in sequence to inform the user it's in boost mode. Once it does that, it's ready for the start/crank.

NP dude. Same thing happened to me once. I didnt realize I needed press and hold the boost button. Now, it's never left me hanging. I'd totally pick/rely on this (according to some, overpriced) charger than those higher specs and lower cost chargers. I do many off-the-grid, lots of times off roading, road trips and I wouldnt trust those newly on the market (less than 6 years) over the NOCO... Just my opinion
