Experience greater power, range, and speed. With an internal and external lithium ion battery, ES4-800 has a top speed of nearly 15.5 mph and a range of up to 28 miles. The bar for high-performance e-scooters has been raised.

What tool and size do I need to buy to take off the back wheel? The L tool that comes with the scooter doesn't fit all of the bits.
You need a set of allen wrenches.

Can you leave the charger on it all the time? Or would that be bad?

To be safe I would advise against it. Not worth potentially over charging the battery.

Thanks for the info. Besides the tire and spacer, anything else do I need to buy for this mod, eg axle and the bushing?
Yes, you will need
  1. 3mm allen key to remove the rear lights. Two screw on each side hidden under rubber covering.
  2. Two T25 security bit to remove the screws holding in the axle. One to hold one end of the axle while the other to unscrew the screw. If you try to unscrew without holding the other side, the axle will just rotate. You may get by with one T25 security bit and a plier.
  3. Two washers. The spacers are missing the flange of the original bushing. The flange keeps the axel from sliding out of the frame. I just attached a larger washer on both end between the security screw and the axel to prevent the axel from sliding.
Alternatively, if you have access to a 3D printer, buy the wheel and print this out. I think is the exact fit for the pneumatic wheel and our ES4.

For those that are interested in this mod... Here are photos of the wheels...
Left is the new pneumatic wheel. Right is the original solid wheel. The pneumatic wheel is slightly smaller but may get bigger once I properly inflate the tire.

Another pic of the wheels. The axle and the bushing is on the left the other bushing is on the top left.

It should swell up a bit when inflated and left to set overnight at max pressure.

It's worth a shot, I don't see why it wouldn't work. I purchased an OEM one because others had issues updating the BMS when using an aftermarket one.
The BMS would not update with the aftermarket dash. Do you know if the firmware would update on future iterations putting back in the original supplied dash?

I could not tell you, there's a chance that you may need to re-install an OEM one. I just wanted access to retail capabilities so I'm fine if I can't update any further in the future.

Thanks for your feedback. My front brake was only working intermittently before the dash swap, but after the firmware upgrade, it works 10 times better. That alone is worth the $28 if anyone is on the fence. Plus the acceleration going from capped at 15 mph to 22 is significant.

Have you tried putting the oem dash back in after updating the firmware? Did it work?

I did try the stock ES4 preset but felt it was lacking torque for me at 240lbs.
I would probably set the preset to "Default" instead of "ES4" -- seems like the options it picks are better (though very similar). The biggest difference is it just leaves it on default KERS.
By the way, does the official Segway Ninebot app show in English or Chinese for you?

I replaced the dash with Amazon $25 one, was able to update firmware to 1.6.2, and was able to change serial number using Xiaomi flasher. Speed now goes up to 22 mph and regained full functionality/features with app.

Can I go back to my stock dash that came with it after using the non OEM or does that only work after flashing with OEM?

I would think that going back to stock won't help because I think you're flashing the dashboard itself. But if you try it, let us know!

Wavshrdr, were you able to connect with the Segway app?

Anyone else with iOS get to try DarknessBot. Seems like it would be a great addition to those looking for basic functionality and can't connect with the Segway app.
At first it wouldn't connect with the Segway app, so I tried DarknessBot. Not the Segway app works on either IOS or Android version for me. Compared to the DarknessBot app, there is no point using the Segway app. It has been highly accurate for predicting my ranged based on usage.

Anyone in the Bay Area have a 2nd one that they'd be willing to sell for retail?

Speed control section of the app has been chinese regardless of what firmware or serial I have flashed on the scooter.

I did try the stock ES4 preset but felt it was lacking torque for me at 240lbs.

Without knowing I somehow switched the KERS (energy recycle) setting to Strong in the Segway app. All the kinetic energy from me going 20mph was dumped into the little circuit board within seconds and it fried something.

So now on the other scooters I'll make sure to leave it on the weak setting. If I'm going over 15mph I'll lightly use the front brake and the rear brake. Sometimes I lightly tap the brake, then coast, then repeat to get under 15mph. When I'm under 15 I use the brake normally.

In an emergency situation you SHOULD be fine slamming down the front brake when under the weak setting. But I'm just more mindful now that I saw the failure.

As for disabling Kers this is the notice on the site:"Disabling KERS using the "KERS min speed" patch might result in failure of the control board and in injuries caused by strong braking.

Setting KERS on Strong provides too much current and can burn a MOSFET or a track."
Should I be worry if I'm using it stock and setting KERS to strong ?
