What do you expect? It's called Amazon Basic. Are you hoping of Eneloop quality on these cheapo batteries? Even Basic Eneloop is much better than these

Unfortunately, the fail rate on these made in China rechargeable batteries are much higher than their Japan made counterparts. I have around 25 these China made Amazon and another 30 from Energizer, IKEA, Eneloop and Fugitsu which are made in Japan. The ones made in China get much hotter when they recharge. I would NOT purchase any made in China.

No, it would say it comes with a charger. And def. not cost 4 dollars. This isn't AliExpress or Temu.

if you regularly cycle them they are probably will be fine. Just don't expect them to hold charge more then a few weeks. Even Eneloop Pros are not good at lasting vs the standard 2000mAh versions. Anything over 2300mAh tends to degrade a lot faster then expected. Expect to baby Cells with higher capacity if you want them to last. I just run cheap high capacities in flash lights as mood lighting. Cheap cells has a very fast voltage drop, but they should last longer off the charger. I just assume these are standard NiMHs and not LSDs.

They get hot because the internal Resistance goes up from the cheap quality. So the cells Resistance goes up and it can't push out as fast as the amperage from day 1. If you keep them cycled monthly they should last longer and not build up too much IR. If you want to be safe then yes Made in Japan is best for LSDs. They make Lithium 1.5volt cells now, but the downside of them is the voltage conversion causes a lot of heat. So they are not good at high amperage tasks like flash light or photo flash guns.

These are useful for kids/electronic toys or any crappy light-up thing you have around the house that you don't want to waste eneloops/Ikea laddas on. I have a bunch of these amazon basics around the house and I don't even know what they are installed in. Yes they are inferior to Eneloop/Ladda. I have had quite a few made in China Amazon Basics fail after some number of re-charges (very few of my eneloops or made in japan Energizers have failed). I still get way more uses out of them than I would a disposable battery. Most importantly for me is that unlike a normal disposable battery I'm not worried about them sitting for too long, leaking, and damaging the electronic device.

If you set your expectations correctly then these do have a use for some people.

I've had good look with Amazon Basic rechargeable. Sure, eventually they fail, but usually I get a few years out of them.

I expect they won't have spectacular capacity but I also expect half of them shouldn't short out within a year after a single charge cycle or 2. To each their own but I'm just sharing my personal experience.
