Product Details:
  • Lynyrd Skynyrd wrote the book on Southern rock with their first album, so it only made sense that they followed it for their second album, aptly titled Second Helping. Released in 1974, the group turned out a record that replicated all the strengths of the original, but was a little tighter and a little more professional. This album featured the bands biggest hit single, "Sweet Home Alabama" and reached #12 on the Billboard album charts. This album is being reissued in 180 gram vinyl.
Track Listings:
  • Disc: 1
    1. Sweet Home Alabama
    2. I Need You
    3. Don't Ask Me No Questions
    4. Workin' for MCA
  • Disc: 2
    1. The Ballad of Curtis Loew
    2. Swamp Music
    3. The Needle and the Spoon
    4. Call Me the Breeze

Only eight songs? Why not do a double album with their first (if rights are owned)? By the time you put the record and headphones on, it's time to change the disc. To me, Free bird was their best, similar to Stairway to heaven for Zep. Other tunes may have been played more on the radio but Freebird will always be number one for me

While I do not disagree with you about turning it over at ~19 minutes a side, I would rather it be presented as it was. I'm a firm believer that an album is a work of art including the track listing. This is what Second Helping was intended to be. It would be like adding a second person in Edvard Munch's "The Scream". Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

Also consider some of the cuts you are referring to involved other musicians. I will be releasing an interview with Greg T. Walker who played bass on many of those songs.

Finally the cost. This normally is $28 so a second vinyl you are looking at maybe $35/$39 where you can pick on First and.....Last second hand quite easily cheap.

I recently got the Police's super/ultimate/deluxe (whatever it's call) of Synchronicity. Aside from the concert (which is awesome) I don't really need 6 versions of Synchronicity II and a bunch of songs they didn't feel were worth making the album. You listen to them once/twice and that's about it.

Simple Man is a much better song than Freebird.

This is their 3rd best album, close behind the live "One More..." and the debut
